Creator platforms have become one of the most powerful discovery engines in music.

Fans encounter songs through content long before they search for them. Creators introduce records to new audiences. Those audiences transform songs into cultural moments. Those moments eventually translate into streams, charts, and touring demand. But the mechanics behind those campaigns remain surprisingly fragmented.

The company said it’d give indie artists grants in the controversial company’s latest bid to curry favor with the music community.

Luxembourg-based music company Jamendo has sued chipmaking giant Nvidia in California federal court for allegedly misusing its music ​and data to train audio-related AI systems. Jamendo, owned by Winamp ‌Group said in the lawsuit filed on Monday that Nvidia copied hundreds of thousands of audio files and related metadata from its platform to train Fugatto, ​an AI audio generator, and Audio Flamingo, an AI language ​model that describes sound.

Despite settlements, lawsuits, and years of warnings, the music industry’s training-data problem is still sitting in the open.

The product, an application programming interface called AI Music Detection, scores how likely a clip is to contain AI vocals or AI instrumentals and gives a verdict on the whole file. Streaming services, distributors and rights holders can use it to catch synthetic tracks flooding their catalogs.

The new Remix Lab feature can be found in the app on select artists’ pages. Unlike competing services that rely on AI for remixes, Deezer implements in-app tools to create remixes, such as adjusting tempo and adding reverb, or “more elaborate transformations such as changes to musical genre and style,” head of product Pierre Trochu explains in today’s blog post.

The labels enable listeners to make informed decisions based on their individual preferences about AI.

The company’s artificial intelligence-powered Symphony Agent will generate new promotions based on trending campaigns, text and visual prompts.
