Hello April 2026!

It’s finally starting to look a bit like spring here in Copenhagen. I feel like I’m waking up from a long hibernation, and feel a bit slow and groggy. But I am happy for every little sunbeam I see!

I’ve received my copies of two brand new children’s books I’ve illustrated! I love them both, they were very different with their energy and I tried to mimic that in the styles I illustrated them.

Ontoblogi published a very thoughtful review of my comic “Avaruudessa kuolemisen haasteita” (in Finnish):

“Sarjakuvakerronta toimii moitteettomasti ja kirjan lukeminen on jopa huomaamattoman vaivatonta. Se minkä kirja näyttää ikkunan tavoin, on söpöjen eläinhahmojen arki, mutta se mistä kirja kertoo musteena paperilla on muodoton ahdistus ikuisuuden edessä, joka nyt kuitenkin sai muodon astronautin kypärästä.”

There’s couple of events I want to highlight from this month:

We’ve been organizing drink & draw (or tegn & drik as we say here in Denmark) events for a while now in Copenhagen, but have had a long pause. Now finally the next one is going to be held on April 17th at Comicsgarden. We’ll start at 18:30 and everyone is welcome, you can focus on the drawing or on the drinking, that’s up to you. I’m going to be in Kaunas April 20th to do a workshop at the Vytautas Magnus University. It’s part of the Mythbústers Tour, that the lovely Kuš! -comics is organizing. A Tale of a Wicked Child

This short comic was first published in our artist collective’s anthology Kulkælderen #6 in 2023. The theme was fairy tales, and I had so much fun trying to come up with the rhymes for Monsieur Frog. I wanted to do more of these, but sadly never got the time to do it. Maybe someday.

Have you read Solvej Balle’s epic On the Calculation of Volume -book series? I’m completely hooked. It’s a groundhog’s day like story, where the main character is stuck in time, repeating the same day again and again. Balle takes this classic set up to a whole new level, and I never know what is going to happen next. It’s not exactly scary, but last night I couldn’t sleep because the book made me think of getting older, slipping time and all those big questions that makes your head spin. I think that’s pretty scary.

I just finished the fifth book and are now waiting for the sixth from the library. The series is going to be seven books long, and I’m already sad that it will be over soon. It’s translated in many languages (also in Finnish and English). Highly recommend to check them out.
