After a hectic April, I’m trying to get back into the swing of things in May on all fronts: exercise, writing, reading, and more. April felt like a crazy fever dream and I am looking forward to feeling like I am back on solid ground.

With that being said…here’s the REPORT!

READING- I have been so excited to get my hands on Carley Fortune’s “Our Perfect Storm.” I made it our May book club book and pre-ordered it from our local beach indie bookstore months ago. I was sucked in immediately - read 150 pages right off the bat. I don’t want it to be over! Fortune writes an incredible summer romcom.

EATING- I am not typically much of a snacker, but lately I’ve been enjoying an afternoon bag of mini buttered popcorn. Feels like enough to satisfy me but not too much where I’m full before dinner. Win win.

PLAYING- Long walks outside in the spring and summer time are such a gift to me that they feel like play. I get to enjoy the sunshine, the beach breeze, and often the company of a person I love. I’ve had several walks with friends in the past few weeks and several more scheduled. There is something so delightful about an afternoon walk that I’m not sure I’ll ever stop being enthralled with them.

OBSESSING- I’m not usually a TV girl, but my parents and Aidan and I started the show “The Diplomat” on a whim last week and I am hooked. I do typically enjoy a political drama and this one (so far) hits all the marks for me. Plus, the cast is really fun. I can usually only watch half an episode before bed if I choose to watch instead of read, but I still always enjoy it!

RECOMMENDING- I have friends that have phones that always seem to be on do not disturb. I myself have never really done this because I like to pretend I have self control (I do not). Recently when I get home from work, I’ve been putting my phone on DND to get stuff done - a workout, a read, cooking dinner, etc. I didn’t realize how much the temptation to look at my phone would go down if I didn’t see it light up with notifications. Highly recommend. Your phone can wait. Real life can’t!

TREATING- Now that I am on the wedding planning train, I’ve been looking a lot at different recommendations for brides: skincare, diets, exercise, clothing, etc. Most of it feels like noise to me but I do want to treat myself to some facials at my dermatologist. I do a pretty good job of following a skincare routine and after a scare last summer, I am much more diligent about sunscreen. However, I don’t usually spend money on nice facials for no reason. This will be my treat to myself this next year - investing in something that makes me feel confident!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend - do something fun! something your future self will thank you for! something kind!

XO

Emma
