I got a very disturbing call yesterday. I picked up. I could hear people chattering in the background and a man greeted me with a hello, waited for me to reply, and then offered his help with my blocked bank account.
He apologized in the name of the bank, said the blocking was the side effect of their security systems being extra-efficient, and while talking sent me a text with instructions and a link to unblock my account.
Sounds like a scam, right?
Does it still sound like a scam if you’re 70 years old and you’re afraid you won’t be able to access your money for your heart medication? My mom wouldn’t know this is someone trying to steal her credentials — she’d click the link.
