Sandy Lu founded Book Wyrm Literary Agency after working as a literary agent for more than a decade at other boutique agencies. In fiction, she is seeking stories that will draw her in with a unique voice, make her miss her bedtime with a thrilling plot, and characters that will stay with her long after she turns the last page. Bonus points if you can make her laugh out loud or unable to hold back tears in public. She especially loves historical fiction, atmospheric world-building, and anything dark, twisted, or with a supernatural bent.
In non-fiction, she’s looking for projects that can make connections about different topics in an unexpected way, explicate complex research for a general audience, introduce the reader to cutting-edged science or previously little known historical facts and figures, teach us new ways to think or clever skills that can improve our daily life, or expand our knowledge and understanding of the world—past, present, and future.

She is particularly passionate about promoting diverse voices, with a keen interest in BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ authors crafting stories they are genuinely passionate about, rather than adhering to perceived expectations.
She is actively seeking YA horror, YA thrillers, dark and sexy romance, adult horror, YA/NA romantasy, and adult domestic/psychological thrillers.

Courtney is primarily looking for authors and illustrators of picture books, middle grade, and graphic novels. She is open to select young adult and adult projects. Carter is looking forward to finding and developing new talent – authors, author-illustrators, illustrators – and having a hand in crafting some of the best books out there.
When asked what he’s looking for in a book, Carter compares it to a particular scene from the movie version of The NeverEnding Story: “The main character, Bastian, is so drawn to a book he finds at a used bookstore that he steals away with it and hides out in his school’s attic and begins to read. In that moment, all that matters is the book. To hold it, turn its pages, fall into its story . . . it’s magic.”

Ginger is looking for high-concept commercial, upmarket, and select literary fiction. She’s actively seeking archetypal stories with a strong hook, compelling characters and a rich sense of place. She values writers who are are constantly developing their craft, with emotionally grounded and atmospherically rich stories to tell.
Ginger is particularly interested in escapist books: beach reads in unique locations, crossover romance, mysteries and thrillers that transport me. She’d love to see some clever puzzle-solving mysteries with an underdog protagonist or ensemble.
She’s also curious to see stories of all genres set in specific hobby groups, such as filmmaking, ballet/dance, knitting/crochet. Ginger would particularly love a thriller that centers on an unusual career that lends itself to interesting psychological phenomena—like deep-sea fishing, cargo/container ships, long-haul trucking, railroad conductors…you see where this is going?

Christine is drawn to stories with high stakes and tension. The first pages must draw her in with action and curiosity. Lyrical writing, along with emotionality, physicality, and interiority, are all key components Christine looks for in a manuscript.
Christine is generally interested in romance, historical fiction, book club fiction, and fantasy. Non-fiction and graphic novels covering a specific range of topics are also of interest. Championing marginalized voices is important to Christine as she seeks to include BIPOC, LGTBQ+, and neurodivergent (and more) authors on her list.

With over a decade of work in classrooms across the Midwest, Morgan wants to uplift the stories that their students needed so that everyone can see themselves on the page using magic, finding love and defeating the bad guy. They are dedicated to being an agent for change in the publishing industry and working with marginalized voices so that every child and adult can experience the joy of a book that speaks to them.

Annie is accepting submissions in the area of adult fiction, particularly upmarket fare with smart humor and a unique hook. She’s also interested in upmarket and commercial fiction in the following areas: contemporary fiction, women’s fiction, sharp romantic comedy (if there’s no comedic element or original hook, she won’t be interested), psychological thrillers/suspense, mystery, and light/clever horror (not slasher; think more Grady Hendrix style for this). She welcome diverse narratives, including but not limited to LGBTQ+ and underrepresented ethnicities/cultures. Annie adores stories with well-done ensemble casts and plots that deliver the unexpected. She wants something unique that will make give her a laugh! She’d love to see book club fiction or something spooky and atmospheric.

Sarah represents MG, YA, and most genre fiction and select nonfiction. They are interested in young adult fiction of all genres as well as adult romance. They especially enjoy anything under the speculative fiction umbrella and high-concept contemporary or historical stories with a strong hook.
Particular areas of interest include atmospheric fantasies, speculative mysteries, books that challenge societal norms, especially gender norms. They also have a special interest in stories featuring queer characters and those with disability, neurodiversity, chronic illness, or mental health challenges. Other areas of interest are small or midwestern town settings, and complicated sibling relationships.
Hardcore horror is probably not right for them.
