I was feeling a bit uneasy being here on Bear, what with the recent content moderation issue. To avoid polluting the feed with tweet-style content or possibly becoming an eyesore, I hid my micro posts. But that didn't quite felt enough of a change. So I've made some changes. It hasn't been long since I've changed things in my theme, yet I've changed it up some more. Got rid of the pages (writings,…
From Bear's Code of Conduct The world doesn't need another X/Twitter. and from Herman's 2024 post, Upcoming changes to the discovery feed , The problem is that there are a lot of low-quality posts on the Most recent feed, ranging from test posts, to tweet-style content, to placeholders for WIP content I think my micro entries actually counted as low-effort, low-quality posts. I'll be hiding them…
This old crone got bitten by the PKM bug and almost went into a heady fevered state of trying out all those wonderfully structured digital brain. I'm so grateful for my partner who laughed when she looked at the rabbit hole I was in. Broke my shiny new thing crazy right there. I don't know why but I suddenly wanted to clean up my blog. So I did. Nothing drastic. I just gave in to the urge of removing my micro page. Only the latest entries can be read in the home page. Moments after posting this, I realised why: I've been seeing theme-related…
I admire them stubborn readers, whose reading goals aren't centered on juggling and finishing as many books as possible but about maintaining focus, one book at a time. I only have a small sample, of course. The few I've met and got to know, it's like they chose a book to read as the one thing to be most stubborn about.
Went to Youtube for some book content (the Shy Girl issue which I only got to know about this week) then I lost interest. So I went on a search for "how to choose what to read" and this Five finger rule for kids to choose book to read video showed on the results. Choose a book and read the first page or two. Put one finger up for every word you don't know. If five of your fingers go up while…
Sad news from my friend. After a series of layoffs, the company he works for is now moving to outsource teams that did not prioritize AI incorporation and automation. It's just a roundabout way of firing people, since it isn't certain that the outsourcing company will absorb the whole team. Companies want to see a return on their AI investment. If you can't or won't find ways to use AI at your…
