On 16 August 2025, Stadium Merdeka welcomed over 1,000 participants at the Move8 Walk for Merdeka, while a corporate group, Parlo Berhad walked and circumnavigated Merdeka 118 Precinct to collectively walk 1 million steps for independence. People from all walks of life came together for the walk, each with a unique story to share. This film is a collection of steps and voices of Malaysian people in 2025.

Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister made a radio announcement on the eve of the declaration of Merdeka, Malaya's independence from the British. The next day on 31 August 1957, tens of thousands of eager and excited people dressed in whites and flocked to Stadium Merdeka for the ceremony. Merdeka was declared, and later on 16 September 1963, North Borneo or Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore joined Malaya to form Malaysia. Singapore separates from the Federation of Malaya on 9 August 1965 to form an independent and sovereign state, what is Singapore today. Both nations remain harmonious until this day.
