Reuters: Kazakhstan’s Oil Export Gateway Shut Again by Ukrainian Drone Attacks in Black Sea

Kazakhstan’s main Black Sea oil export terminal at Russia’s Novorossiysk port shut down for the third time this month on July 30 after Ukrainian drones struck two tankers overnight. One vessel, the Nissos Sifnos, caught fire while loading; the other was the Marathi. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which carries about 80% of Kazakhstan’s oil exports, suspended loadings just two days after resuming operations following a prior week-long halt. The disruptions have forced temporary production cuts, as Kazakhstan has limited alternative routes, threatening its economy and investments by US majors Chevron and Exxon.

Figure 1 shows trends in weekly Kazakh crude oil exports via the CPC terminal as reported by Kpler. It shows the impact of the recent attack on exports and how they stopped completely.
