New music: “Emergency Dub” EP by The Arkanist

The screen of my MacBook decided to go on strike a couple of days ago (It’s very probably dead actually… 😑) so I’ll make this one short because writing from an iPad is not the best experience!

“Emergency Dub” is a 3 tracks EP that consists of a remixed and remastered version of a track that was released in 2018 on a VA compilation by Dezordr Records alongside 2 remixes of this track.

This EP marks the shift of The Arkanist’s output toward a Dub direction.

Even in my ambient work (born pretty much at the same time, Live-looping and Dub techniques are like estranged siblings, looking different from the outside but sharing the same “using the overdub capabilities of the tape machine as an instrument” DNA), and in my beat-oriented production indeed, but it will take more of a center stage from now on.

But don’t expect traditional reggae-dub either: I’m thinking about Dub as an approach, a philosophy and an array of techniques that will, among other things, allow me to make music as The Arkanist in a more improvisational way. More play, less producing is one of my goal here.

It will be about hybriding Dub with a wide array of elements. Today’s offering is at a crossroad between industrial sounds & eastern Melodie’s but I can already say that I’m currently working on tracks that will be very different from this.

I made videos for each track using the VJ Software « Resolume », and I must say it’s easier to get satisfying results when there’s a beat going on in the music compared to ambient stuff!

Here is the 1st one. The other two will be published in the next couple of days.

I did so for want people who wants to support me directly or those who are not interested in getting music on Bandcamp.

I also plan to use it to sell tools for making your own music (Sample packs, presets and so on…) and maybe services.
