February 2026: The Agentic Revolution

It’s happening.

Artificial intelligence is here to stay, and February 2026 has already brought a wave of news (and questions) about the impact of agentic AI (models that can take action) and enterprise-grade tools that manage end-to-end workflows.

We just witnessed a massive crash in the SaaS market. According to Forbes, software stocks saw a historic single-day decline, erasing more than $300 billion in market value 😱.

The catalyst?

The recent launches by Anthropic and OpenAI.

These AI agent platforms can now perform tasks traditionally handled by operational tools, executing complex workflows across legal, financial, and other organisational domains.

We are no longer talking about chatbots, but about agents that can also execute tasks.

This type of work has long been the backbone of SaaS platforms like Adobe, SAP, ServiceNow, and Salesforce, to name a few, but it still required human execution.

Today, I want to share updates on these releases.

February 2026 may be remembered as the moment AI stopped supporting software and started replacing it.

These developments show that operational tools are no longer just assistants: they are becoming autonomous agents capable of executing critical workflows independently.

Now, the real question isn’t technical.

It’s about governance, but I will talk about this in my next article.

The latest releases from Anthropic and OpenAI mark a clear shift in intent: both platforms introduce the ability to move from isolated actions to end-to-end execution.

The game changer is the ability to build software that works the way you work, without being an AI expert. I repeat: WITHOUT BEING AN AI EXPERT.

These systems are no longer positioned as conversational interfaces or copilots, but as autonomous operators capable of planning and executing multi-step professional workflows.

Anthrophic

Anthropic has launched several agentic tools, including Claude Code and Claude Cowork. Both tools are built on the same technological foundation, but they target different audiences and environments.

In short: Claude Code (the engineer) is for building software, while Claude Cowork (the assistant) is for managing office work.

• Claude Code (the Engineer): It acts as a senior developer. It doesn’t just suggest code, it edits files, runs terminal commands, executes tests autonomously. The user profile are software engineers and technical teams. For more details visit the link.

• Claude Cowork (the Assistant): It acts as a digital office colleague. It handles files and apps (PDFs, Excel, Browsers) to automate workflows like research, data entry, and document drafting. It operates within a secure “sandbox” folder you provide. For more details visit the link.

OpenAI

OpenAI’s direction pushes toward orchestration across systems.

Rather than operating in a contained workspace, its models are designed to coordinate tools, APIs, and enterprise platforms end-to-end.

This is reinforced by OpenAI’s Frontier models which are advanced systems built for complex reasoning, multimodal understanding and autonomous tool use.

In short: if Anthropic builds specialized AI roles, OpenAI builds the system-level coordinator.

This approach is ideal for workflows that span multiple systems and require integration across enterprise environments.

Different strategies, same destination: end-to-end operational execution at scale.
