Education in Aotearoa is at a critical juncture. There is lots of change going on and the speed in which it happens can create restrictions of educators, as professionals to lift their head above the change and to understand, thinking, share, and critquite what happening and what are the underlying assumptions, values, and motivations.

AEC wants to give this platform to educators.

Creating Space for the Conversations That Matter

We are hosting an online AEC Happy Hour - a dedicated, open space for educators across all sectors (ECE, primary, secondary, and beyond) to connect, share ideas, and engage in the conversations that matter most. These are not going to be large gatherings, they are going to be small group book club style discussions of about 10-15 people.

This online discussion isn’t about sitting back and listening to a lecture; it’s about opening up the floor. This month we will be discussing:

• Do we trust the governing bodies of the teaching profession?

• Connecting the curriculum to the citizens we need.

• ECE should be about education, not care.

Whether you’re classroom teacher, a school leader, an ECE practitioner, or simply someone who cares deeply about the future of learning, your voice and experience are needed.

Worried that you wont have anything to contribute? No need, these hui are set up for you to be either a contributor or observer of the discussion, there is not pressure to be involved.
