Your tears fall like pearls is coming soon

Hello kindreds,

How are you doing? April and May have sailed by, and you’ve been without an update. Let’s sort that out right now!

The last couple of months have been busy. I had a great Easter, from a Good Friday service in Peckham Town Square to a joyous Easter morning service, and spending time with family and friends. Full of joy. :) May and June are full of birthdays in our family, so lots of celebrating has been going on.

I also managed to get to the Katakata open mic in Brixton, which was great fun. I met a whole lot of new people and talented musicians. This is me on the way home.

Work has progressed on the poetry book - not as fast as I anticipated, but I’ve made some significant moves forward. There’s always more to do than you realise, and I’m learning as I go along. I love learning, so sometimes I get caught up in that - I’m learning to keep myself on track.

I sent the manuscript draft out to a few trusted friends and got great feedback that I’ve reflected on and incorporated or put aside for future work. It was so encouraging. Everyone has a different perspective, and different people pick up on different elements (and typos!), and it’s all the better for it.

When people hear my poetry, they often describe it as ‘powerful’. I’m always interested to know what this means for people. For some, it’s putting an emotion that they couldn’t articulate into words; for others, it's simply being moved emotionally. What does that word mean to you? I’d genuinely love to hear from you.

One of my goals for April was to finish the manuscript. The manuscript has been edited. Proofreading is done, and I’m making final edits (there always seem to be more!)

I’ve also spruced up my website and now have a dedicated page for the book. Check out Adukeh.com/book for details. I’ve also started letting people know about the book and have set up a mailing list for updates on the book launch.
