A poem and an update

An image of a green shoot poking out of brown soil. The sun is rising in the distance.

First an untitled poem - what do you think it should be called?

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when published
A green shoot pushes through from below a mound of heavy soil.
Shovel by shovel
heaps of darkness were thrown
till all darkness was blocked out.
Daylight came late and left early.
What is direction if you can’t see your way?
In the darkness, the sprout held tight to
tales of dew and giant oaks and dazzling hues.
Held, hoped, pushed and prayed
until the day
it pushed, and nothing pushed back.
No resistance
only air
only golden light.

Spring is poking beautiful shoots up and out into the world. We made it!

It’s daffodil time!

Spring is one of my favourite times of the year - I just soak up the growth energy and I love the quality of sunlight at this time of the year too.

Did you know a planetary parade was going on in the heavens? Fascinating! Most of the planets were visible at the same time this month it doesn’t happen very often. I managed to spot Venus and I think Mars in the sky.

I’m not really into horoscopes but I do think there is something amazing about the planets being visible this way, and something to be learned about being curious and remembering to look up from our downward gazes and remember we are part of a universe (or multiverse) that is so much bigger than us. I also take comfort in knowing there is a God even bigger than the universe, the one who created it - mindboggling!

What of the writing I hear you ask? It’s happening very slowly. I decided to add a couple of poems and it’s slowed things down a bit. I’ve struggled a bit with motivation, but I’m keeping going - putting one word in front of the other. I don’t have much to report other than I seem to have a never-ending stream of poems about grief and loss but also hope in the midst of that. I’m praying they will bring encouragement to those who need it.
