Hi NC team!
I hope you’re excited to join a No Kings rally on Saturday 10/18 - I know I am! Not only do we need to show up in big numbers, but it will also feel great.
I also wanted you to know about this event early next week where you can support a great organization and hear from the dynamic Senator Chris Murphy. Plus, we need to protect NC from Republican district rigging. Read on…
Please join All In for NC and 13 other groups in support of Down Home North Carolina for a Down Home NC fundraising event on Tuesday, October 21, at 7:00 pm Eastern / 4:00 pm Pacific on Zoom.
Speakers: Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT; Dreama Caldwell and Todd Zimmer, Down Home’s dynamic co-directors.
Down Home organizes rural member chapters on local issues. At election time, they canvass extensively (630,000 homes in 2024!) and help win key races, from critical state house seats to supreme court and US Senate. New national data shows their effectiveness:
The programs of the 26 studied organizations in 10 states achieved a contact rate of 9.3 percent, much higher than the 5.3 percent rate of other Democratic or progressive field operations. Those reached by the partner organizations, as compared against other non-partner field programs, were more likely to be people of color, younger, and infrequent voters.
Down Home did even better than these averages: Black men canvassed by them voted 16 points above the average; Black women, 14 points.

RIGGING THE DISTRICTS
Republicans are scared of losing, so they’re cheating. We’ve seen redistricting battles play out across the country – and now the fight is in North Carolina.
We need people to be outside the General Assembly on Tuesday, Oct 21. A seat in the US House of Representatives is on the line.
Last month it was reported that President Trump was pressuring Senate Leader Phil Berger to draw new maps favorable to congressional Republicans in exchange for a political favor.
This week, Senator Berger said “we will hold votes in our October session to redraw North Carolina’s congressional map.”
We are gathering to send the GOP a message: North Carolinians are watching and we’re not backing down.
Need a ride? We’ve organized transportation across the state!
Until next time,
Jess and Andrea (who helps with state newsletters)
