Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosle

Sambhaji was born in the year 1621, ten-eleven early than Shivaji Maharaj. At the time of Shivaji-Janma(Birth Of Shivaji Maharaj), Shahjiraje went to Mughal Service, at that time Sambhajiraje also got mansab. Sambhaji Raje seems to have been engaged in horse hunting with his father from the very beginning.

Before the birth of Shivaji Maharaj, Shahaji Raja arranged Sambhaji Raje’s marriage with Jayantibai - the daughter of Vijayraj Vishwas Rao, the fort lord of Shivneri. The years of Shahaji Raja from 1630 to 1636 were a period of great struggle in Maharashtra. During this period, Sambhaji Raja, who was constantly with his father, got education in the art of war and became an expert in it. When the Pseudo-Nizamshahi experiment failed, he moved to Karnataka with his father. Soon Shahjiraje handed over the Jagir of Bangalore to him.

After the imprisonment of Shahaji Raja in 1648, Adilshahi forces rushed to take possession of both his Jahagiris. In Maharashtra, Fatte Khan went to the Jahagiri of Pune, while Farhad Khan went on the Jahagiri of Bangalore. Both the sons of Shahaji Raja defeated these Adilshahi forces. Next, the release of Shahjiraje According to the terms of the agreement, Shivaji Maharaj handed over Kondhana in Maharashtra and Bangalore and Kandarpi by Sambhaji Raja in Karnataka to Adil Shah.

This mighty Sambhaji Raja, like his father, was killed by a cannon ball while the Adil Shahi army was besieging Kanakagiri. At this time Afzal Khan, a chief who was jealous of the Bhosles, was present in the Adil Shahi army. It was he who killed Sambhaji Raja with a few blows, a rumor was spread everywhere at that time. Shejwalkar argues that this battle of Kanakagiri must have taken place at the beginning of 1654 AD. It is said that Sambhaji Raja should have lived till the year 1663. C. Bendre says. However, in the year 1657 Shivaji Maharaj named the son born to Saibai as Sambhaji Raje. If the elder brother Sambhaji Raje was alive at this time, it is obvious that Shivaji Maharaj would not have named his son after him. From that, the year 1654 seems to be acceptable.

Sambhaji Raja had a son named Umaji. He and his mother - Jayantibai. Jijabai brought them both from Karnataka and placed them in Raigad with dignity. Jayantibai is mentioned in Marathi documents only till the year 1670. Umaji is mentioned in a Mahajar dated 1683. In fact Venkojiraja was supposed to have given some share in the Jahagiri of Bangalore to this Umaji; But nothing seems to have happened.
