(i) Orion’s right shoulder is so large that if it were to sub in for our homegrown sun it would engulf the earth’s full orbit. (ii) Orion’s right shoulder, a red supergiant, will go supernova soon. And by soon I mean anytime between tomorrow and the next 100.000 years. (iii) When the degeneracy pressure in Orion’s right shoulder will give in to the pull of its own exhausted gravity it will shine as bright as the full moon, the sun scoffing at this unexpected day-time visitor. (iv) Last night I checked whether I was locking the right door after coming out of the hotel room. Orion rushed to meet me outside to remind me that I was in a right place. (v) Orion’s been doing this for a while now, ever since he first showed himself to me one winter night, before maned Leo or lounging Cassiopeia, before I took to a map and a torch to tame the northern sky. (vi) A bit stalkerish, if you ask me, how he followed me to this island, and before to (vii) that island, and before that to (viii) a beach where I met a small-mouthed river. (ix) Orion’s right shoulder has been given a name; a name long forgotten as the star goes boom. (x) O four-armed cosmic dancer, strike your drum and restate the world anew! (xi) You said I wanted to be a good boyfriend, but that I didn’t want to be a boyfriend. I say: I want to be good to you.
