Can’t lie, July was a very good month in terms of music. It’s like as we’re hitting summer, everyone wants their summer single to be out and ready and I respect the dedication.
Ten albums, some I was lowkey anticipating, came out last month and well, good music great music (if you didn’t get my good pizza great pizza joke please go to the back, face the wall and refresh your knowledge of mobile games)
Now before I get into the albums, I’ll like to spotlight singles released last month that I absolutely fell in love with:
Victony has been on a generational run, and I’m sat for whenever he drops that album.
Anyway, back to what we came here for. Anyway, back to what we came here for.
This ranking is based on two things:
my ability to sit through the entire thing impromptu
my overall enjoyment
There are no technical metrics here. Everything is 100% opinion based.
So, if you have a differing opinion, I am willing to hear you out... but you will not be changing my mind.

Okay let’s get into it.
This is here because I like Gracie, but she isn’t my typical day to day music. She is for those mellow days where I want something toned down from my regular rotation.
So, while I do like this album, it’s mood based. I can’t pick it up impromptu.
Relatively new to the rotation can’t lie. So, it hasn’t exactly stood the test of time.
That said...
Cease and Desist is an absolute banger.
Was at the listening party for this lol. This is also one of my more mellow albums. Perfect for a late-night car ride (tried and tested)
Released yesterday. Loved it. But I feel like as time goes by, I’ll treat it like I do 5ive. Go into it, queue a few tracks, walk away.
As its release week, it’s still gonna get a few more full album plays from me. Gotta let it sink in properly.
Same as Oriade. Released yesterday. It’s only higher cause I enjoyed this listening experience more. The production on it was stellar.

My issue with this album is that I didn’t expect the laid-back singles like Fairytale, so it threw me off my listening and I’m still getting used to it (fairytale is playing in my head as I type)
But they’re songs in there that are absolute peak, can’t even lie.
I loved all pre-release singles.
That Crazy Of Me song too. Phewww.
This only came out two days ago, but it ranks above Oriade and petal for one very simple reason:
EDM doesn’t miss for me. You rarely go wrong with it.
Afro house, Afro tech, Amapiano, Gqom, 3-Step... I’m almost guaranteed to have a good time.
For this now, the tracks blend for me into one song. And its so fun.
Besides this is the type of high energy song you’ll catch me listening to on a regular day. Volume turned up as I clean or drive or get ready for a party.
Again...
EDM guys. EDM.
Except this one every track has its own identity but is still tantalizing. I remember when I first heard it and I felt the urge to learn dance steps I haven’t considered.
It was that good.
Y’all are sleeping on my Fave. I thank Kante for waking me up to her mehn.
Every single song is a banger. Like its such a no skip.
Production? Tea.
Vocals? Coffee.
Cunt levels?
Vodka.
My twitter knows my obsession with this album which is astonishing cause I’ve never been a rap fan. I think Ladipoe is making me rethink certain convictions
My favourite part is how cohesive yet different it is. Maybe it’s due to the number of different features and the fact the production matched the featured artists’ vibe so so well. Production isn’t monotonous.
Also the inclusion of voicenotes make it seem so so homey.
Do you know how fun it is to listen to Lagos conductors fighting in the middle of an album? The voicenotes from his mum or friends. There was a part someone was sweeping. Clippings from chatting in the studio.
Those little moments make the album feel lived in. Instead of just listening to the music, you feel like you’re inside the creative process.
I love it.
So yeah, my top ten albums of the month. Only ten albums really lol. I hope this makes you go listen to one of them.
