Headline is straight and to the point.

Headline is straight and to the point. I am “retiring” from doing Comic Convention appearances. So the upcoming Cap City Comic Con here in Lansing, MI in three weeks will be my last. I’ve had a great run, doing shows since 2002. So at the show, I want to clean house! All my sketch cards, prints, books and original art will be on a super discount. I will not be taking commissions at the show. I might do quick commission sketch cards at the table, but its kind of up in the air if I will or not.

So what the hell does this mean? Is it over?

Well, kinda sorta… but not. After PLEASANT LIFE is released and STARSLAM 5-6 are in the can and released, I will be stepping back from major comic work. I do have a couple more smaller things I will be finishing and publishing on my digital download store. If I do any more comics in the future (which, lets face it, I will most likely), I will not be promoting it too much, nor talking about it. I will just do it and then release it via digital download. I will of course post here on my Substack about it when its done and available. But not before!

My new focus will be all the written novels I’ve kept putting off. I have about five in various stages of completion. So you will still get to see me at things like zine fests, small press expos, book signings/readings, etc. I am also going to be focusing on my fine art/abstract painting again. I MAY open an etsy store sometime in the future to sell prints of these and the originals. Hopefully get enough to do an actual gallery show someday. We shall see. I am looking to really slow down on the “Commerce” side of the thing I do. While you will have to still purchase books via digital download or physical through something like Amazon, I will not be pushing or grinding at it nearly as hard as I have in the past.

The reasons for choosing to end my run doing this are varied and too long to share. It is something I have thought about for a long time. I just finally decided to commit to it. I’m getting older. I got new things I’d like to focus on. I’ve had a GREAT run! So many shows, so many people I’ve met and fun stories to tell for a lifetime. It really has been a good life!
