stained glass windows · volume twenty-two · a poem of marvelling

in my abba’s house. | Ansley Claire

the tea kettle wistles,
the breadbox, left open,
radiantly shines with the dawn's "hello!"
You ask me, "cream or sugar?"
but really,
"still or restless?"
with a glint in Your eye, You already know.
the yellow couch sighs with delight,
the coffee table, stained with years of love,
gently holds my steaming mug.
You tell me to hand you my plate, pastry crumbs & all,
but really,
You want to take the burdens off of my plate & wash my worries down the drain.
with adoration in the curve of Your smile, You want me to know, know I can trust you.
(trust You with my time, with all my life).

the Son,
fully risen,
is gleaming through the stained glass of the windows.
You, my Heavenly Father, reassure me of my,
Your child's, place at your table,
in your house.
with a peace deep in my chest, I know. I sigh.
