I’m writing to you from Connecticut this morning, not Nantucket.
We arrived home Sunday night.
Our girls start school tomorrow and our fall collection launches this week.
Talk about an abrupt end to summer!
I, of course, have many thoughts about the end of summer and the transition back to “real” life. I will share those thoughts in my next post, but for now…Cailini Coastal’s fall collection launches publicly this Wednesday, but you’re getting access to shop it first!
This is, without question, my favorite fall collection Cailini Coastal has ever released — and I want to tell you why before you shop it.
Where this one came from
Years ago, I lived a few blocks from two iconic hotels in Santa Monica: Casa del Mar and Shutters on the Beach. Same design group, same instinct — dark, traditional furniture styled with coral, shells, and blue-and-white porcelain. Traditional bones with coastal touches layered on top. I’ve never stopped chasing that combination, and this season, we finally built an entire collection around it.
This collection, called Island Estate, is inspired by British colonial influence from the Caribbean — that traditional-meets-island style you see in old colonial-era estate interiors, brought into a home that still feels like ours. It’s also, honestly, a step back from where we’ve gone in past fall seasons. We’ve done literal fall before, even flirted with Halloween-adjacent décor. Part of being a young business is testing things, but it never felt fully on-brand to me, even when our competitors leaned into those categories. This year we stripped that out and went back to what we actually do best: timeless coastal. Brass and bamboo details, coral, shells, beautiful faux stems, chinoiserie.
The one true departure this season is from being completely light and bright. We’re leaning into darker, richer finishes — which happens to be where the whole industry is heading right now, but honestly it’s a style I’ve always loved regardless of trend. It’s the moodier side of our brand, and maybe the closest we get to “fall” — no ghosts or gourds required.
We also quadrupled our upholstery collection!
New dining chairs, more ottomans, and a sofa I am, genuinely, obsessed with.
Do I have favorites? Of course! I always do, and I’m sharing them with you below. You’ll notice a pattern…my favorites I always keep in my own homes!
The Lauren Sofa. I love this cotton stripe fabric. It’s also available as a petite armchair, large ottoman and pillows. I don’t currently have a spot in my own home for this sofa and I am seriously considering removing one we already own just to make room. That’s how much I love it.
Chatham Chest. Distressed chocolate-stained wood with brass pulls and bamboo detailing. It’s a great scale. I kept one in the hallway of our Connecticut home and hung some vintage nautical art over it.
Palm Beach Lamps. I love the bamboo detail paired with the raffia shade and mango wood base. We put the pink ones in our Nantucket house and the white ones in our home in Connecticut.
Brass Shell Toilet Paper Holder. I didn’t know this was a category of object I needed until I saw it. It’s in our Nantucket bathroom now and it might be the cutest bath product we’ve ever sold!
The Schooner Trinket Dish. Fine porcelain, looks completely vintage. Already brought up to our Nantucket home.
Tuileries Woodsy Tablecloth. This is the exact tablecloth I used for my 40th birthday last October, styled with burgundy taper candles and antique hydrangeas. It was one of my favorite tablescapes I’ve ever done, and I wanted to make the whole look available to you — tablecloth and candles included. Link to a reel from my birthday table last year.
Harbour Island Trays & Photo Frames. I designed this collection inspired by a beautifully intricate rattan bowl I found over a year ago. I love the detail.
Shoreline Paper Towel Holder. Rattan is tied with shell as my favorite material to work in, and good paper towel holders are shockingly hard to find. Nobody else was making anything interesting in this category, so we did!
Rattan Surf Rover. Technically this launched last week, but I love this Surf Rover and based on how many we’ve sold this past week, I’m not alone! Inspired by the beach rides of Nantucket - jeeps, broncos and defenders - this is one fun and unique coastal decor piece.
