An update on Accounting Fintech Ventures, our mission, investing amidst a slowdown, and a community update! 😁

🧠 Livin' Life

May was incredible. Michael Ly and Marissa Jones recently returned from Camp Hustle, an oasis for investors where 250+ angels, VCs, emerging fund managers, corporate investors, and family offices converge for three days of meaningful connection and serious fun.

One standout moment? Hearing from the founder of Grasshopper David Hauser, who reminded me it’s not just about building the next big thing—it’s about building the right thing, for the right people, at the right time. That one hit home.

Camp Hustle reminded us why we’re in this game: not just to chase returns, but to support bold founders building real value in overlooked places.

🌎 Our Mission

As a reminder, at Accounting Fintech Ventures, we support early stage companies in the accounting tech and fintech space. We provide advisory services to startups and provide investment management services to funds focused on the accounting tech and fintech arenas.

🚀 Startups We Love

  • We hosted a Demo Day in Scottsdale with 12 startups solving critical bottlenecks across accounting workflows. Several are now live with firm partners.

  • Company spotlight: Quanto, is impressing us every step along the way. Quanto builds custom AI-Agent bookkeepers to help your firm grow while simultaneously improving gross margins. They are currently working with 10+ firms to automate workflows and expand capacity. They’re also hiring a founding engineer.

  • We’re exploring AI-native onboarding, document processing, and client intelligence tools—fast to revenue, sticky in function, and relevant far beyond accounting.

✍️ What If the Best Time to Build in Accounting Tech Is During a Slowdown?

There’s a lot of talk right now about venture cooling off. Carta data shows Series A conversions declining. LPs are asking sharper questions. And a wave of underperforming software M&A from 2021 is still shaking out.

But that’s exactly why we believe now is the best time to invest in accounting tech.

Here’s what we see:

  • A labor-constrained industry demanding scalable tech—not in theory, but now

  • AI finally capable of augmenting legacy processes without huge rip-and-replace cycles

  • Founders building companies with real business models, serving critical infrastructure needs

This category is not a tourist play. It’s where venture capital can still find leverage, durability, and visibility into unit economics. While broader markets chase shiny trends, we’re backing founders solving unsexy, high-urgency problems that affect the bottom line of millions of businesses.

If you believe infrastructure-like SaaS is the foundation of the next wave of returns, accounting tech deserves a serious look.

We’re not seeing a venture apocalypse. We’re seeing a market correction—and in that reset lies an edge.

💼 Shoutouts + Community Update

  • Shoutout to Marissa Jones, our GP, who was recently accepted into Global Women in VC, a powerhouse network driving visibility, access, and influence for women leading venture capital globally.

  • Thank you to all the LPs who joined us in Scottsdale for Demo Day—we loved having your perspective in the room.

  • We’re building a startup community layer for companies building in accounting tech. Reach out if you are interested in being a part of this community.

  • Welcome Kenji Kuramoto, one of our newest investors, who will be working with Marissa Jones to build up our startup community through support of our emerging companies.

🙌 How You Can Help Advance the Industry

  • Refer founders building in finance, AI, or B2B SaaS. Please think of us anytime you hear about something new or see a cool demo—we have a community ready to support them.

  • Lend your perspective: We love pairing our founders with LPs who understand the nuances of firm ownership or scaling finance ops.

  • Help us grow our Innovation Circle: A curated group of firm owners and operators testing bleeding-edge tools before they hit the mainstream.
