Hi Team~ How goes your thesis journey? Perhaps some of you are writing up your first Discussion draft, whereas others may be wondering where to start.
I find the biggest challenge for students is thinking their way through their findings, to reasonable conclusions which contribute to scientific knowledge.
So me and Claude CoWorker compiled a companion app, to aid the synthesis crucial for a kick-ass Discussion section. The app acts as a guided thinking partner, walking you through considered ‘moves’ to make in your write-up.
The goal of the Discussion Synthesis app is to help you develop your judgement (taste) to:
Turn results into defensible knowledge claims
Translate the stats/themes into plain-English psychological meaning
Identify plausible theoretical mechanisms for your findings
Compare findings to previous research (i.e., your lit review) with greater depth
Explore discrepancies with previous literature as opportunities for future research, rather than framing them as limitations of your study
Build a construct-level synthesis that demonstrates classical critical scholarly thinking
As such, the app slows your writing-thinking-reading cyclical process to aid you asking yourself better questions. Also, the app can assist you in better organising your reasoning, your academic arguments, to produce a Discussion section that carries psychological science forward.
