It’s finally here! The book I dreamed up during a lunchtime chat with my husband in December 2024, drafted over a frantic, fever-dream of a six week spell at the start of 2025, and then didn’t mention again until now is finally available to pre-order!
Highland Getaway follows Rosie Winter, a wannabe fashion influencer who thinks she’s been invited on the trip of a lifetime; an exclusive influencer retreat taking place in a luxury castle in the Scottish highlands. For Rosie, it’s a dream come true — and also something of a lifesaver, given that she’s just broken up with her boyfriend and been kicked out of their flat.

There’s just one problem: the invitation wasn’t actually intended for her. And when the wrong Rosie turns up at The Chrysalis Hotel, it’s a recipe for disaster; especially when Hunter Stuart, the rugged, no-nonsense groundskeeper gets involved…
The location for Highland Getaway was inspired by our trip to beautiful Dunrobin Castle in late 2024, when I looked up at the building towering above us, and thought ‘this would be a great setting for a romance novel’. I mean, look at it!
(Spoiler alert: there may be a brief moment in the book when someone takes a photo of this very scene — minus me and Max, obviously, because that would just be weird.)
As for the rest of the book, as well as being a good, old-fashioned romance, some of the content is vaguely inspired by my own days as an (extremely minor) ‘influencer’, and the many hotel stays I’ve undertaken as part of that, although none quite as eventful as the one Rosie Winter gets to experience, thankfully. (JK, I would love to get to stay in a remote highland castle where strange things happen. Why else do you think I made one up?)
Mostly, though, it’s the story of a woman who has always felt ‘invisible’ — which is something I’m sure quite a few of us have struggled with — and, this being an Amber Eve novel, you can expect some quirky characters, beautiful Scottish settings, and hopefully a few laughs along the way.
