An invitation to wander and wonder with me

Hello love!

A warm welcome to Accidental Alchemy. I’m so glad you found me.

I wish I could give you a neat, tidy description of what to expect from my publication. But as much as the perfectionist, overachiever part of me would love to, it wouldn’t be true to who I am now.

Who I am now is an over-educated, middle-aged, witchy wanderer and wonderer who was sent to her knees by an unimaginable nervous system collapse in 2020, found her way back to health and did a whole lot of healing—physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual—along the way. In other words, I am no longer the woman who would have once sweated buckets to craft a neat, tidy description of her Substack 😊.

In my serial Substack memoir (which you can find HERE), I told my story of the grand, grueling healing adventure I was invited to take through neuroscience, nervous system work, self-discovery, and trauma healing. And of the spiritual side of my adventure that gave me glimpses of the Great Mystery that is our cosmos and of the power of the Divine Feminine woven into its very fabric.

I called my memoir Accidental Alchemy because the whole experience, although unimaginably painful, was a beautiful invitation to learn, grow, and alchemize into a new version of myself.

That said, alchemy doesn’t happen in a single moment in time. It isn’t a finish line to cross and then heave a great sigh of relief that the race is done. It’s a slow, ongoing process of growth and unfurling, an upward spiral (or maybe more aptly, an upward-spiraling roller coaster??) towards a freer self and a more expansive life.

Which is why I want to keep sharing my adventures and my unfolding alchemy as I rebuild my life out of the rubble of what happened to me. And sharing my adventures and unfolding alchemy as I rebuild my self out of the rubble of what happened to me.

That is what Accidental Alchemy is all about.

Dear one, you might still be wondering what to expect and what I will share with you. Here’s what I can tell you:

I’m a wanderer and a wonderer.

I wander and wonder with forests and rivers, with horses, with bid ideas, and with the Great Mystery.

I also wander and wonder in my inner world, a place that is as wild and fascinating (albeit often humbling and heartbreaking) as the outer wilds I love so dearly.

So that is what I’ll share with you, often in prose and poetry (I share two free articles a month), sometimes through art and “From the Wild” videos (for paid subscribers).

Here’s a peek at my first “From the Wild” video post:

And a peek at what art and poetry posts might look like:

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when published
Why do we insist on thinking
we can control
our world
when in fact the unseen forces
will keep spinning us
around and around
and the mysterious
twirling and reaching
has had a plan for us all along?
Why not buckle our seat belts
and surrender with wild abandon?
Let ourselves be turned upside down
so we can finally see
exactly what
and where
we are.

But the truth is that my shares might look and sound like something I haven’t yet envisioned, because what I want most is to stay open to the mystery and magic and to be surprised and delighted by what wants to come to life through me.

I hope you’ve found your way here because all this stirs something in you. If it does, I hope you subscribe (free or paid, I cherish every reader!) and join me and my community of kind, smart, well-read, witchy, earthy souls.

I’d love to have you with me!

With love from the wild,
