See that tiny speck at the end of the arrow in the picture above?
That is us !
Right now, as you read this, you are spinning through space at over a thousand miles an hour. You never feel it because everything around you is moving with you.
Your body is sitting on a tiny planet called Earth, spinning around a blazing star called the Sun, in a quiet corner of the Milky Way, a galaxy containing hundreds of billions of stars, in a universe containing billions upon billions of galaxies
And somewhere inside that impossible vastness, we are worried about our status, opinions, the past, and the future.
Maybe we need less control and more perspective.
This is the strange comedy of being human. Not a flaw to be ashamed of. Just the mind, doing what minds do when they are left unobserved.
Let’s zoom out. Breathe. Live.
Because there is a great freedom in realizing how small our personal story is in the vastness of existence.
Nisargadatta Maharaj said: Wisdom tells us we are nothing; love tells us we are everything; and between these two, our life flows.
A strange phase begins after spiritual awakening, when things that once seemed enormous start to look almost absurdly small. Not because life stops bringing pain, but because you begin to see pain in its proper perspective.
One of the biggest spiritual myths is that awakening removes human pain. It doesn’t.
Loss still happens. Grief still happens. Fear still appears. Difficult things still happen in life.
What changes is your relationship with them.
You stop building an identity around what you are experiencing.
Pain can move through you without becoming who you are.
And that transforms everything in your life.
Life is rarely as serious as the mind makes it.
Wisdom brings a difficult truth: You are nothing.
Not nothing in the sense of being worthless. Nothing in the sense that the separate identity you spend so much energy protecting has no permanent substance.
Your achievements will change. Your possessions will change. Your reputation will change. Your relationships will change. Even the personality you call “me” will keep changing.
What remains when all of that becomes quiet.
Being remains.
And then comes the other side of the truth: Love tells you that you are everything.
You are not separate from life in the way the thinking mind imagines. The same life that moves through the trees, the clouds, the oceans, and every living creature is moving through you.
So wisdom says, you are nothing. Love says, you are everything.
Your awakening happens somewhere between these two truths.
When you know you are nothing, you stop taking every little thing personally. Someone criticizes you, and it does not destroy you. Something goes wrong, and you do not immediately turn it into a story about your future.
You lose something, and there is grief, but there is less psychological resistance around the grief. You begin to see that many of the things you feared were never actually threats to your deepest existence.
They were threats only to your mental image of yourself.
And when you know you are everything, fear loses another layer of its power. You realize life is not happening to a tiny person trapped inside the universe.

You are life experiencing itself in this human form, temporarily.
This does not mean becoming careless about ordinary responsibilities. You still pay the bills. You still care for your family. You still make decisions.
But something fundamental changes. You stop carrying tomorrow inside today.
A useful spiritual practice is to notice the next time something small disturbs you. Before believing the thought, ask yourself: Will this matter in five years? Will this matter when I am lying on my deathbed?
Sometimes the answer will be yes.
Most of the time, it will dissolve into silence.
The awakened person is not someone who has solved every problem. It is someone who has stopped making every problem an existential crisis.
This is the perspective awakening gives you.
You begin to see that you can care deeply without becoming consumed. You can act without being driven by fear. You can love the world without demanding that the world behave according to your preferences.
And as this perspective deepens, something even more fundamental begins to change.
Wisdom empties you of the illusion that you are a separate, permanent self. Love fills you with the recognition that everything is One. Between these two truths, life begins to feel lighter.
But there is something else no spiritual teaching prepares you for.
After awakening, you may lose all motivation.
Not because something is wrong with you, but because the one who needed success, recognition, and achievement is slowly fading away.
And when that old identity begins to disappear, there can be a strange period when nothing seems to matter anymore.
Before a deeper way of living emerges, there is often a season of emptiness where the old reasons for living no longer work, while the new ones have not yet revealed themselves.
Do not mistake that emptiness for failure. It may be the very space in which your true life begins to emerge.
Because what you truly are is not this temporary identity struggling to make life work. You are the eternal awareness in which this entire experience appears.
This spacious awareness was never born and will never die.
For a brief moment, it has simply taken the form of this body-mind, wearing this human costume on this earth. And when you begin to see life from here, what once felt like everything begins to find its proper place.
You are the universe expressing itself as a human being for a brief time on this earth.
