The Joy of Reunion

Among the many, many blessings of a beautiful Jumu'ah yesterday, we were honored to have a visit from one of our superstar alums here at DePaul. As I watched people's reactions to seeing her, it caused me to reflect on a few things. The first reflection is that UMMA truly loves Asma Yusuf Ali as the poet said "Like the student love the teacher Like the Prophet love Khadeejah." Beyond that, One of the greatest joys in this world is to see someone whom you have missed a great deal. Knowing that, imagine how much more so that will be the case for those who enter al Jannah. We know that for those who enter Jannah, they will be with those whom they love. Can we imagine the joy of seeing your beloved and knowing you will never have to part from them again? Yes, this will be incredibly special with regard to those whom one has been praying constantly and hoping beyond hope to be together with again. But I also imagine, and some narrations describe, there may be a special joy for some people upon seeing those whom for whatever reason you were not expecting to see and whom you had perhaps not realized just how much you loved them until that moment. May we all be united forever with those whom we truly love!
