3. Ensure these programs remain Indigenous-led and Survivor-centered, consistent with UNDRIP and the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action.
Local radio and journalism are important to Canadians;
Abrupt closures of local radio stations by Rogers Media leave citizens without a vital public service;
We, the undersigned, People of Canada, call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to immediately impose a federal moratorium on the approval, construction, expansion, or operation of proposed hyperscale AI data centres in Alberta, including the proposed Wonder Valley AI Data Centre Industrial Park and the proposed Synapse Data Centres Olds Project.
1. Prohibit federal permits, funding, tax incentives, loan guarantees, infrastructure support, or federal land and water access for AI data centres powered primarily by fossil fuels or requiring large-scale freshwater withdrawals;
Whereas:
AI data centres are being constructed across Canada with high secrecy and low community involvement;
AI data centres are known to cause noise and water pollution, and strain water reservoirs and energy grids;
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to reject any proposal to privatize, sell, or transfer ownership or control of Canadian airports to private, for-profit interests, and to maintain airports as publicly accountable infrastructure operated in the public interest while protecting affordability, accessibility, labour standards, safety, regional connectivity, public oversight of critical infrastructure, and ensuring Canada’s airports continue to operate for the long-term public good rather than short-term private financial gain.
Keep local stations open for residents with limited internet access as these stations served an essential public-interest function that national media, websites, or social platforms cannot fully replace — especially during emergencies, severe weather, elections, or transportation disruptions;
Amend the Canada Pension Plan Act to ensure that the flat-rate base component of CPP-Disability (currently $610.46 CAD) is maintained as a permanent top-up for seniors who were receiving disability benefits prior to turning 65;
Amend the Canada Disability Benefit Act to remove the upper age limit of 64, allowing eligible Canadians with severe and prolonged disabilities to continue receiving the CDB (up to $200.00 CAD/month) concurrently with senior pensions; and
Establish a Federal Senior Disability Supplement to guarantee that no senior citizen with a disability experiences a drop in federal financial support due solely to reaching the age of 65.
Improve coordination and accessibility of federal funding to accelerate deployment of marine renewable energy and other clean energy technologies; and
3. Work in partnership with Indigenous communities to reduce diesel reliance, strengthen local economies, enhance energy security, and advance Canada’s climate objectives.
The Government of Canada has actively promoted hyperscale AI data centre development through its national AI strategy without establishing corresponding federal protections for the communities, ecosystems, and public utilities that bear the costs. New Brunswick affects all of Canada.
U.S Ambassador Pete Hoekstra has repeatedly made public statements undermining Canada-U.S. diplomatic relations, including characterizing the 2025 Canadian federal election as “anti-American”;
We, the undersigned, residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to:
1. Formally declare Pete Hoekstra persona non grata and request his removal as U.S. Ambassador to Canada;
2. Raise with the United States the pattern of conduct by Ambassador Hoekstra inconsistent with the Vienna convention on Diplomatic Relations; and
3. Direct a parliamentary committee to review U.S. diplomatic interference in Canadian domestic affairs.

You can put in comments re: bike lanes. They can be supporting bike lanes - one concern might be the safety of bike riders since the government banned photo radar. Just leave the concerns at none. You can also write a letter to the Transportation Minister and your MLA.

Enables the Alberta government (specifically the Ministry of Energy and Minerals) to take its royalty share of natural gas production in physical gas (in-kind) rather than (or in addition to) cash payments. This mirrors the existing Bitumen Royalty-in-Kind (BRIK) program. We will get paid in gas.
271/2026 - Makes the Natural Gas Resource Credit Regulation. Allows the government (via the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission or Energy and Minerals Ministry) to issue royalty credits to eligible producers or suppliers. These credits can offset royalty obligations, incentivize certain activities (e.g., supply for strategic markets, infrastructure support, or domestic supply), or facilitate in-kind arrangements. It supports broader goals like improving market access, pipeline egress, and domestic natural gas market stability amid external policy challenges.
272/2026 - Makes the Natural Gas Royalty Regulation, 2017 Amendment Regulation. This updates the core rules for calculating and collecting Crown royalties on natural gas, natural gas products, field condensate, and solution gas. Amendments typically adjust formulas, rates, cost allowances, reporting requirements, or transitional provisions to reflect current market conditions, policy goals, or integration with in-kind/credit programs.

280/2026 - The Act (Bill 6) amends the Education Act to prioritize early literacy (reading) and numeracy (math) skills. It requires school authorities and independent early childhood services (ECS) operators to:
Conduct mandatory annual literacy and numeracy screening assessments for all students from Kindergarten to Grade 3.
Share the screening results with parents/guardians to keep families informed and involved in their child’s progress.
281/2026 - EDUCATION ACT (section 167) - Establishes the property tax rates expressed in mills (mill rate) in respect of payments by municipalities into the Alberta School Foundation Fund for the year 2026. (YOUR PROPERTY TAXES ARE GOING UP AGAIN)
2026 Rates (per $1,000 of equalized assessment):
Residential/farmland properties: $2.84
Non-residential properties: $4.17
This represents an increase from prior years. The education property tax requisition is rising to approximately $3.6 billion in 2026-27 (up from $3.1 billion in 2025-26), covering about 33.4% of education operating costs (up from 31.6%).

These five Orders in Council (O.C. 282/2026 to 286/2026, dated July 31, 2026) are all made under section 101 of Alberta’s Automobile Insurance Act. They create the detailed regulations needed to implement the province’s new Care-First auto insurance system, which takes effect on January 1, 2027.
282/2026 - Permanent Impairment Regulation - Establishes a standardized schedule (often called a “meat chart” in discussions) for lump-sum benefits for permanent impairments resulting from collisions. It uses percentage ratings for specific injuries (e.g., spinal, neurological, amputations) multiplied by a maximum benefit amount. Catastrophic injuries have higher caps (up to around $298,520 in draft figures), while non-catastrophic range lower (up to ~$189,000). Benefits are indexed and determined once injuries stabilize.
283/2026 - Alberta Automobile Care-first Tribunal Regulation (Alberta likes tribunals; just look at how they are setting up the AISH/ADAP) - Creates and governs the Alberta Automobile Care-First Tribunal. This specialized body will handle disputes between claimants and insurers regarding benefits, treatment approvals, and related decisions. It largely replaces court actions for most injury claims, with decisions being final (subject to limited judicial review). The tribunal aims for faster, less adversarial resolutions.
284/2026 - Benefits, Treatment and Care Regulation - Details the enhanced medical, rehabilitation, and care benefits available to all injured parties. A Message from the parents of a Calgary boy found dead after a 2-week search. Calgary Police Service shared this audio from Parker’s parents a day after their 11-year-old son was found dead. The message was recorded while the search for the autistic boy, who went missing July 16, was still ongoing. The parents still wanted their message of gratitude to be heard.

Measles Tracker - We now have the highest number of Measles Cases in the world, and to think it was almost eradicated 50 years ago. Thanks in part to Alberta, Canada has lost its Measles Eradication Status.

Here is a link to the 2026 calendar, Legislative Assembly of Alberta, or Legislative Assembly of Alberta (one-page calendar). *Days in yellow are the days they were at the Legislature. They start on February 24, 2026, for their four-day work week. They are sitting for 9 weeks - 36 days this winter/spring session, as well as 3 constituency weeks. They are working 54 days in 2026. Their last day for sitting this Spring Session is May 14. They will be back in the Legislature on October 27th after the Referendum.
**** We want to point out that the Referendum is scheduled for October 19, 2026. The next election is scheduled for October 18, 2027. The UCP has passed a law stating that there can be no recalls or citizen initiatives taken that can affect the outcome of an election within one year before the election and one year after an election. So anything that arises out of the referendum cannot be acted on for two years.
**** Another update - They have changed legislation that “Recalls” can only use lawyers as scrutineers when validating signatures - another way to game the system.

It is the wrong priority.
Some of the questions also have serious implications for human rights, access to public services and the kind of province we want Alberta to be. Instead of bringing people together to solve real problems, this referendum asks Albertans to spend months debating issues that won’t lower grocery bills, shorten healthcare wait times or make life more affordable.
Public Interest Alberta has registered as a third party advertiser and is leading a province-wide, people-powered campaign to encourage Albertans to vote Remain in Canada and Vote NO on the remaining referendum questions. Our campaign is built around conversations with neighbours, community events, volunteers and local organizations because we know that real conversations are still the most effective way to move people and get out the vote.

In Alberta, we have evidence of foreign interference. They want to convince you to vote for “what they want,” or not to vote at all, so they can create disruption and chaos.
This is important. They count on panic; an example is ICE invading Minnesota. The people there responded that they had a plan and they successfully implemented it. Albertans can do this too! Organize, educate, plan, implement.
You have the power to stop this. They are putting out disinformation, misinformation, and malinformation. They don’t have a vote, and they don’t have to live with the consequences. YOU and YOUR FAMILY/COMMUNITY DO. Let’s spread information, ask questions, listen, and effect change in our communities.
When looking at the NINE Original Referendum Questions, the standard answers should be “Just Say NO!” Number 10 - choose the first option “Stay in Canada.”
I don’t know about you, but I feel assaulted by the UCP and their supporters. They want to take Alberta apart, the Alberta that I grew up in, where neighbours looked after each other.
People from different countries who gave us so much of their culture - the foods, music, customs that we can learn from. Alberta has benefited from the rich, vibrant community we have built. Understanding leads to appreciation. So let’s recognize that everyone has families that they want to protect and raise, just like you, and let’s celebrate Alberta together.
