Meanings: We chose Resistor for the name of this newsletter
The meaning of RESISTOR is a device that has electrical resistance, and that is used in an electric circuit for protection, operation, or current control. We see our job as an opportunity to offer protection to the people who join us. To operate together and to keep the energy flowing to ensure we can stand up to this government.
A resister is one who resists, stands firm against something, refuses compliance, or withstands temptation. A resister may also be a coating that protects a surface during some processes. Related words are resist, resists, resisted, resisting, resistible, resistibility, and resistibly. Resister appears in the late fourteenth century from the Old French word resister, meaning hold out against.
We are both… a resistor that allows the current to connect the dots and one who resists.

We got some more news re: the Skybox/Corrupt Care/Procurement Scandal - Aaron Barner is no longer employed by the Metis Nation.
Smith has given several reasons for not putting for the Water Not Coal petition on the Referendum Ballot.
Emergency Rooms are still not open or if they are they are overcrowded. Edmonton is the canary in the coal mine
LaGrange backed down on the new EHS/ still refer to it as EMS - so not separating out fire and ambulance.
Carbon Capture facility may be dead in the water.
Carney is wanting to put in nuclear reactors to stabilize Canada’s electrical grid.
The US is still threatening Canada over CUSMA.
Solar panels are getting hit with a $14 recycling fee/ yet oil and gas companies are walking away from closing and cleaning up well sites.
Dan Williams thinks only Canadians of a certain colour should be visiting Banff and Jasper (yes he did a rant about that.)
Calgary’s Country Thunder concert cancelled.
The UCP weighed in on the Noise Bylaw in Residential Areas in Calgary - Calgary council won.
We had rain - lots of rain. There will be more rain….

(This week, there was the tragic death of a father and husband who sat in the Emergency Room at Grey Nuns Hospital for over 8 hours and died of a heart attack.)
You must know your loss matters. We want to document what is happening in our hospitals and the lives that are being impacted or lost because of the Collapse of Alberta Health. Did you know that Alberta Health is no longer tracking deaths because of wait times to see a doctor, lack of EMS, and emergency rooms are closed and not recorded. If you feel comfortable and would like to tell your story, so we have a record of lives being impacted by the government’s restructuring of health care in Alberta.

Here is a link to our costing of the UCP Government’s spending updated to May 2026 - cleaned up and reformatted - we have taken out some of the monies from our previous report, e.g., building public schools, etc. We have also included the link to the Auditor General’s findings for Dynalife.
This week, the Committee for Electoral Boundaries sat to pick a Committee Chair. They asked for the Law Society and the sitting Justices to put out the request to their membership. Both declined. They had two people, former judges, apply for the position.
Brandon Lunty sat as the chairperson. For the UCP, there were Chantelle De Jong, Ron Weib, and Garth Roswell. The NDP had Christina Gray and Kathleen Ganley. The first order of business of the meeting, MLA Weibe made a motion to go in camera to discuss which person they would pick to chair the committee.
The NDP position outlined by Ganley laid out all the reasons this was not a good idea right off the hop. That Albertans deserved to know the background of why they were having this special committee, that they should arrange to interview the candidates, and what was at stake if they proceeded in this manner. Needless to say, the motion was passed. The NDP presented two motions that were defeated. One was to go back and accept the Majority report.
Some of the concerns were that this particular judge donated to the UCP party on several occasions. Another concern is that the Minority Report maps were being circulated by UCP MLAs and persons before the reports were submitted. They worry that they will accept that as their 91-seat report. They also pointed out that the interim report was accepted by all committee members, and the majority report mirrored that report very closely. Some skullduggery was inferred here.
So the next step in the process is for each side to nominate two people to sit on the committee. This should be interesting (sarcasm).

This week, we saw Corb Lund reach 200,000 signatures for the Water Not Coal petition.
The last two recalls had one disqualified and one withdrawn.
A person on AISH, being moved to ADAP took their own life.
The legislative committee for Electoral Boundaries selected four people - the two from the UCP - Monte Solberg, a former MP and Darwin Durnie, who co-authored a submission recommending electoral map changes that would see several ridings in the Calgary area combine both rural and urban areas. Along with a retired judge who donates to the UCP, they pretty much have it in the bag. (There were two people nominated by the NDP as well: Dr. Gerard Kennedy, a professor of constitutional law at the University of Alberta, and Brent Robinson, a former councillor for the town of Okotoks.
Adriana LaGrange cancelled the rebranding of EMS.
Another AHS senior executive is leaving. A memo, obtained by CBC News, said Dr. Peter Jamieson was “leaving his role” as Alberta Health Services’ chief medical officer and vice-president on Wednesday.
Danielle Smith launched a lawsuit to appeal Judge Leonard’s ruling on the question of the Separtist being unconstitutional.
The UCP is also looking at making ebikes and escooters expense-countable for their staff.
And…. Ottawa is still the bad guy, according to the UCP.

The Alberta government revealed that they would give all eligible Albertans $100 to offset the cost of fuel. This is against their own legislation. Three MLAs are out of Alberta - MLA Schow is in France and Italy, MLA Jean is in Japan and South Korea, and MLA Glubish is in France. For a total of 21 days altogether. Schow has 3 unaccounted-for days in Italy between his arrival and touring Decimomannu Air Base. https://www.alberta.ca/news
Daniel Smith says the Water Not Coal question will not be on the referendum - it has to go to a Legislative Committee. Corb Lund and his campaigners are upset over the fate of the Water not Coal petition.
Adriana LaGrange announced the next step in the Dual Medical System for surgeries etc. This is the start of the slippery slope to privatized medicine. They claim we have the most doctors ever registered in Alberta. Registered does not mean they are working here. Doctors can be registered in several provinces and work to cover vacations or as locums in Emergency Rooms. Here is the announcement: (not sure where they found the Cataract Surgeon who was waxing poetic about the steps the Alberta government was taking to ensure he was able to perform private operations).
