Meanings: We chose Resistor for the name of this newsletter
The meaning of RESISTOR is a device that has electrical resistance and is used in an electric circuit for protection, operation, or current control. We see our job as an opportunity to offer protection to the people who join us. To operate together and to keep the energy flowing to ensure we can stand up to this government.
A resister is one who resists, stands firm against something, refuses compliance, or withstands temptation. A resister may also be a coating that protects a surface during some processes. Related words are resist, resists, resisted, resisting, resistible, resistibility, and resistibly. Resister appears in the late fourteenth century from the Old French word resister, meaning hold out against.
We are both… a resistor that allows the current to connect the dots and one who resists.
When we stand up together, WE can MAKE a DIFFERENCE. They can only win if we give up!

Question Five
Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring individuals to provide proof of citizenship, such as a passport, birth certificate or citizenship card, to vote in an Alberta provincial election?
Only Canadian Citizens are legally allowed to vote.
Alberta voters already have to prove their identity before voting.
This proposal would add additional proof of citizenship requirements.
Some supporters argue it strengthens election integrity = We already have this!
Critics question whether it creates unnecessary barriers for eligible voters. (This will also affect those regarding healthcare - as their # will have to appear on their driver’s license starting July 1, 2026.)
Think of homeless citizens who don’t have proper ID.
People who have recently been released from prison.
People who have transferred to a major urban center hospital and have no way to get back home, so they do not have access to their identification documents.
Women who have married may have to have their birth certificate and marriage license in order to prove a change of name
They can no longer have voters vouch for them.

What’s happening in Alberta: There are listings for various events all over Alberta: Check it out - there is something for everyone. We have highlighted a few that are happening in the next two weeks.
Things are moving quickly at Alberta’s Voice, and I wanted to share a few updates.
We’re expanding our outreach.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll begin translating our campaign materials into several Asian languages. That means websites, brochures, signs, and other campaign resources designed to reach more than 50,000 Asian Canadians across Alberta.
Every Albertan deserves the opportunity to understand what’s on the ballot and why Alberta’s Voice is encouraging people to vote Stay in Canada. No to the Nine.
We’re also beginning work with Southern Alberta First Nations to help increase participation in the referendum and ensure Indigenous voices are part of this important conversation. This referendum will affect every Albertan, and we want to make sure everyone has the information they need to make an informed decision.
Thank you for being part of it. If you haven’t picked up a sign yet, this is a great week to do it.
CBC and Parks Canada have partnered to provide free screenings in parks and sites across the country from July 6 to August 31, 2026. Lots of information and extra learning opportunities.

This event will be a great opportunity to finalize your Referendum Day plans to help others vote NO to Premier Smith’s United Conservative Party of Alberta’s MAGA north agenda. You didn’t want any of this before May 2023, you have said “NO” ever since to all of it. Let’s put the separatist, anti-rights, divisive agenda to bed. Once and for all!
A special ask from Ali Morrison, host of the Speaker’s Series: If you are or have experienced difficulty in the Health Care system, she would like to document it. (This week, there was the tragic death of a father and husband who sat in the Emergency Room at Grey Nuns Hospital for over 8 hours and died of a heart attack.)
You must know your loss matters. We want to document what is happening in our hospitals and the lives that are being impacted or lost because of the Collapse of Alberta Health. Did you know that Alberta Health is no longer tracking deaths because of wait times to see a doctor, lack of EMS, and emergency rooms are closed and not recorded? If you feel comfortable and would like to tell your story, we have a record of lives being impacted by the government’s restructuring of health care in Alberta.

Do you support the Government of Alberta taking increased control over immigration for the purposes of decreasing immigration to more sustainable levels, prioritizing economic migration, and giving Albertans first priority on new employment opportunities?
Immigration is a shared federal-provincial responsibility under the Constitution.
Alberta already helps select immigrants through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program: In 2024 and early 2025, the AAIP will consider an invitation to apply based on the following priorities:
Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law mandating that only Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with an Alberta approved immigration status will be eligible for provincially funded programs, such as health care, education, and other social services?
Permanent Residents already pay taxes and are permanent members of Canadian society.
Temporary Foreign Workers and International Students also contribute through taxes, tuition, and labour.
Changes could affect employers already facing labour shortages. (See the ** document at the end if you are an employer on how to deal with this.)
Provinces must still operate within the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Some publicly funded services are already restricted based on immigration status.
Government Benefit Programs (the federal government funds healthcare for refugees - this is a table that provides information on health programs in Alberta)
Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for social support programs as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring all individuals with a non-permanent legal immigration status to reside in Alberta for at least 12 months before qualifying for any provincially funded social support programs?
Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents would be affected under this proposal
They have extended the time from 5 years to 6 years to be eligible for PR status.
There has been a reduction in the number of people eligible for immigration status by the Federal Government.
Temporary Foreign Workers often work and pay taxes before qualifying for Social Programs.
Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for public health care and education as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta charging a reasonable fee or premium to individuals with a non-permanent immigration status living in Alberta for their and their family’s use of the healthcare and education systems?
Many Temporary Foreign Workers already pay income tax and payroll taxes. They also pay CPP and EI.
International students already pay significantly HIGHER tuition than domestic students: Bachelor of Education - Elementary Ed. Living off campus. The University of Alberta
Foreign Student ~ $36,000/yr. - Cost of a 4-year program ~ $144,000
Canadian Citizen ~ $11,000/yr - Cost of a 4-year program ~ $44,000
Do you support the Government of Alberta working with the governments of other willing provinces to amend the Canadian Constitution to have provincial governments, and not the federal government, select the justices appointed to provincial King’s Bench and Appeal courts?
Superior Court Judges are currently appointed by the Federal Government
Provinces already appoint many of the lower court judges.
Provinces have a committee to appoint judges to the King’s Court - thus they have a say in who gets appointed.
Changing the appointment process would require a constitutional amendment.
It will increase political influence over the judiciary.
Do you want judges appointed based on their political leanings so they rule according to their beliefs or to rule according to what the law says?
Since 1990, the West has had 6/24 Supreme Court Judges - Alberta has had 5 of them. So, 25% of Federal Supreme Court judges came from the West, BC, and Alberta.
