There is a thread of melancholy that runs through the music I gravitate towards.
The realization that maybe things aren’t as peachy as folks would like to believe.
In that vein, a few bands stand out. Morphine. Timbre Timber. Scott Walker. Mazzy Star… and Cousteau.
Cousteau were first active from 1999 through 2005, then reformed as CousteauX in 2016.
Smoky ballads, dramatic pop-adjacent tunes. Bacharach influence vibes.
