Being a SysAdmin is hard
Treehut has had a lot of downtime recently. I am frustrated about that. The underlying causes are not easily addressable. I want Treehut to be stable, reliable, and trustworthy, as I and a few others use it to store a lot of code. These two things are in conflict. It feels bad.

Outage: January 21 2025
A power outage resulted in an unexpected shutdown of the server Treehut runs from. It uses non-LUKS non-TPM encryption which means that the storage needs to be manually unlocked upon reboot. I noticed the outage upon waking up and checking my phone and unlocked the storage array, with normal service resuming briefly after.
