Earth & Earth-like Planets by Devaki D. Devi is a collection of imaginative short stories following Indian American children, teens, and young adults as they come of age in a country that often alienates them. This genre-bending chapbook hums with the steady pulse of Indian culture as diasporic youth create new worlds amid the weight of family expectations, shifting social norms, gender roles, and economic pressure. Rooted in heritage, Devi's speculative prose transports readers to new planets, ones that remind us dreaming isn't just survival, but rather, a radical act of envisioning the futures we all deserve.
This year we’ll be tabling at Houston Zine Fest, which will take place at The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art on Nov 15 from 12-6pm. We’ll be tabling with all of our chapbooks and zines, and we’ll also have information about our 2026 programming and goodies! Stop by and come see us Houston!
Mikayla is our new graphic designer at Abode Press. She studied Peace & Justice and Women & Gender Studies at Pace University and is pursuing a Master’s in Health Communication for Social Change at the City University of New York. She is passionate about advocacy and communication, and believes thoughtful design can amplify marginalized voices and spark meaningful change. Beyond her creative work, Mikayla is a reproductive rights advocate and an avid reader whose love of books and research fuels her commitment to storytelling, connection, and social justice.
Welcome our next Graphic Designer, Maiu! Maiu is a queer, Argentinian American graphic designer from Pratt Institute with an MFA in Communication Design. When she’s not building brand assets, she likes to read, make art, take long city walks, and explore new restaurants.
