Life#

I took the whole last week off to recover from illness and fatigue. I’m happy to report that all three of us are doing much better now. I had a sinus infection, not major, but enough to give me headaches entire days. Thankfully, the medication worked, and now I’m almost over it.

Earlier I had decided to not work on personal projects last week, but as I started feeling better, I couldn’t resist it. I worked on them for two days out of seven, which I consider pretty good knowing myself. I spent the rest of the time reading and watching TV, going for walks, and generally resting. I slept 10–11 hours each day. I finally feel rested enough.

Last Monday I weighed myself as usual, and found myself to be at my lowest in many decades. However, this was not a good news—most of this was caused by my repeated sicknesses. So I decided to stop dieting for a while and ate as much as I wanted. I regained some weight by the end of the week, but I’m going to consult my nutritionist before continuing.

On Tuesday, I went to the Recursive Coworking Meetup. It had many familiar faces, and some unfamiliar too. We worked together on our respective things, had lunch and talked. It was a lot of fun. At the end, each of us got two minutes to talk about our work. I was working on my then-upcoming talk at the Functional Programming India meetup, and I did a short demo of the same.

Last week was also a week of repair for our vehicles. Somehow my scooter’s silencer broke open—I suspect the tapestry of potholes that the Bangalore roads are. I got it repaired, but alongside I also decided to get my bicycle serviced. It had been collecting literal dust for years, but I’m not going to let this year go by too without some fun cycling. Both vehicles are in good condition now, I even went for a ride after a gap of years. It felt really nice. I’m going to cycle around while I wait for my body to be strong enough to run again.

Functional Programming India June Meetup#

I presented a session on “Basic type-level programming in Haskell” in the FP India FP India June 2026 meetup. Srijan presented about creating a simple ML model in Haskell. 15 people turned up for the meetup! It was probably one of the largest attendances in the recent times. If you are interested on functional programming, consider joining us for the next monthly meetup.

Watching#

Wife and I finished watching Study Group. I was a bit flustered by the unexpected superhuman action in middle of what otherwise felt like a show grounded in reality, but then I read about it and learned that it’s set in world with such people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I also finished watching The Amazing Digital Circus. The ending was great. I recommend you watch it right now.
