Life#

Last week was a pretty bad weak for us health-wise. Wife, I, and A have been battling different illnesses at varying degrees. I have slept for only four hours last night. I shouldn’t even be writing this weeknote, but there is nothing else I can do at this moment.

If you have been a regular reader of my weeknotes, you’d have noticed that we’ve not had a sickness-free week in what seems like a long time now. The blame lies in the rapidly varying daily weather of Bangalore, toddlers having a weak immune system, and our [parents] bodies going through some sort of parental burnout. We are hoping that things will get better with time.

We managed to have a small celebration for the Father’s day yesterday, just some cake for A and pie for us from the Old Madras Baking Company.

I’ve been taking days off from work because of the illness. I want to spend the time recuperating and recovering well. I’ve decided to not work on any personal projects till I feel well enough. I’ll spend this time reading, going for walks, and sleeping a lot.

Personal Projects#

Before the sickness became bad, I worked a bit on feed-repeat. It started with trying to fix a crash I found while deploying it for the IndieWebClub BLR blogroll replay feed. Then I realized that the released executables are not GMP-free. While fixing it, I also finally figured out how to perfect the Nix code I’ve been using to build statically-linked executables for my Haskell projects. So I wrote a post about it. I also added a feature in feed-repeat that I should have earlier: enabling CORS for the generated feeds. I’ll do a release this week.

IndieWebClub#

I went to the IndieWebClub BLR meetup on Saturday despite being tired, because I really wanted to get out of my house and meet people. It was a discussion session led by Jatan about blogging from the perspective of a nontechnical writer. Ankit wrote his notes about the session. I wrote a note for the writing prompt given to us during the meetup.

After the meetup, we were stuck because of heavy rains. Ankur, Azan, Itihas, Tanvi and I ended up discussing error handling in TypeScript-vs-Haskell, and logarithmic spiral skirts over tea.

Watching#

The only thing wife and I watched last week was Study Group. Honestly, the action and violence is getting too much for me. I’m not the kind of person who can watch a TV show or movie only for good action scenes, there needs to be a solid story as well.

Interesting Internet Links#

That’s all for this week. You can subscribe to the feed of my week notes for updates.
