2024 was a pivotal year for both the crypto industry and Advantage Blockchain. From adding AB team members to ETF approval, momentum was compounding the whole year. We’re continuing to build everyday to make 2025 even better.

We’ve compiled 2025 crypto predictions, along with longs and shorts, from the AB Team.

Executive, Portfolio Management

Predictions:

1. ETH will outperform BTC

   +AB Fund will outperform BTC, ETH, & the COIN 50 Index

2. The Optimism Superchain will continue to evolve as the most widely adopted blockchain scaling solution. Most people will continue to have no idea the OP Stack is behind their favorite blockchain applications (AB called this in 2021)

3. Base will explode with mass adoption and continue to flourish as the central activity hub of Ethereum. Base and Ethereum will be referred to as one in the same rather than L1 vs L2 narratives

4. Mr. Miggles will be featured in a Coinbase super bowl commercial. Around this time MIGGLES will reach 50¢ (and beyond) forcing AB’s CFO to get a real cat named Mr. Miggles

5. Advantage Blockchain will become a household name in the crypto industry.

Biggest Longs: ETH, Base & Optimism Ecosystems, Aerodrome, Miggles, Virtuals, DeSci

Biggest Shorts: USD, all L1s outside of Ethereum & Solana

Executive, Research

Predictions:

1. AI will exceed the DeFi boom of 2020/2021

2. Ethereum ETFs will approve staking and have more net flows than BTC in 2025

3. Total Crypto Market cap reaches 69% (~$12T) of Gold’s Market Cap (~$18T)

4. Ethereum almost reaches Bitcoin’s high from 2017 (~$20K)

5. 2025 NFT season as people again flex once rich

6. Another CT main character bites the dust

Biggest Longs: Chainlink + Ethereum + Base Ecosystem (Altcoinist, DickButt) + Basegods

Biggest Shorts: Alt Layer 1s (without real users) + Fartcoin / PNUT

Executive, Growth & Investor Relations

Predictions:

1. Base surpasses Solana. Coinbase is shifting attention to disrupting finance onchain with Base. Base will replace Solana as the retail ecosystem due to long term focus on projects and infrastructure beyond memes

2. Decentralized Science becomes widely used. Research Hub and other DeSci plays are becoming increasingly attractive for scientists. Anecdotally, I have spoken to multiple people in science who are already seeing the benefit and incentive to move towards a decentralized approach in the industry

3. Ink, launched by Kraken, becomes a top 3 Layer 2. Kraken has massive reach and has taken Coinbase's playbook of moving their users onchain. Kraken will be a top 3 Layer 2 by TVL and volume in 2025

4. Additional institutions launch Layer 2s on Ethereum. Deutsch Bank made history as becoming the first bank to create an L2 on Ethereum using ZKSync infrastructure

Biggest Longs: Base memes & Aerodrome + Moonwell

Biggest Shorts: Solana memes (too many rugs)

Research

Predictions:

1. Launch of Uniswap V4 and a direct integration into an existing fintech app such as Robinhood using custom hooks to KYC liquidity sources and allow only certain tokens for trading

2. Ethereum Staked ETF approval which sparks new demand for ETH as an asset especially for certain cohorts of brokerage money (retirement folks) who would like exposure to some volatility but also want dividend-like yield

3. A new Ethereum layer 2 competes with Base on metrics such as daily active users, gas consumed per block, daily blobs posted on Ethereum mainnet

Biggest Longs: Ethereum, Eigenlayer, CowSwap

Biggest Shorts: Ethena USDe, Tron, Hyperliquid

Executive, Finance

Predictions:

1. Ethereum outperforms Bitcoin in 1H 2025

2. USA enters recession in Q4 2025

Biggest Longs: Ethereum + Chainlink

Biggest Shorts: Ripple + PEPE

Research

Predictions:

1. President Trump creates a strategic bitcoin reserve

2. Market tops in 2025 around $10 Trillion

Biggest Longs: Bitcoin + AI agent infrastructure

Biggest Shorts: Ethereum L2s and restaking protocols + Celestia / VC coins with big unlocks

Operations, Culture

Predictions:

1. AI leads the charge but a lot of the biggest coins struggle to get listed on the big exchanges because of their fair launch tokenomics. This leads to mainstream defi adoption as more and more people learn to trade on chain and it gets easier and “safer” - this goes along with the rise of base but the eco is capped bc of lack of real token

2. RWA have a month where they are all the rage which leads to a mega pump of Avalanche as they somehow figure out how to dominate that narrative

3. Gaming has a month where Arbitrum pumps silly as people see it as the “gaming layer 2”

4. Last cycle darlings continue to underperform even though “they haven’t pumped yet” as the space is evolving and old tech gets left in the dust

Biggest Longs: HYPE and its ecosystem go bonkers as hype-evm is rolled out but ends up insanely overbought and crashes as hard as anything in 2026 + ARC ends up being the biggest AI agent (sitting around 250m) as it catches up and eventually passes Virtuals

Biggest Shorts: Fuck off I’m not a bear. Giga bullish till end of Q3 2025

Operations

Predictions:

1. Provenance Blockchain’s HASH Token to Reach $10B+ Market Cap. The HASH token will likely list on centralized exchanges (CEXs) and experience explosive growth

2. Securitize and/or tZERO to be acquired by a major crypto CEX or institutional asset manager for their valuable infra & licenses. Securitize’s comprehensive regulatory coverage coupled with BlackRock’s backing, and tZERO’s SPDB license with Intercontinental Exchange’s (ICE) backing, make them prime acquisition targets. With tokenization becoming increasingly mainstream, these platforms’ ability to compliantly tokenize real-world assets will become indispensable to larger players

3. Stablecoin Market Cap to Surpass $500B. As businesses and institutions increasingly adopt stablecoins for transactions and treasury management, their utility and demand will soar, solidifying their role as a critical pillar in the digital asset ecosystem

Biggest Longs: Ethereum, HASH, Avalanche

Biggest Shorts: Ripple, Cardano

Operations, Culture

Predictions:

1. DOGE to $1. It was destined , don’t overthink it

2. Base continues to grow and become biggest Layer 2 (overtaking Arbitrum)

3. Memecoins will be a leading category, replacing the NFT hype. Basically NFTs but liquid

Biggest Longs: DOGE, AERO

Biggest Shorts: Litecoin, The nonbelievers, DOGE
