This is a new experimental form of writing for me. Unfortunately, I have difficulty finding time to write longer analytical articles, but always find time to write shorter commentaries, primarily on geopolitics, war and imperialism. These are a collection of my recent social media posts, where I do 90 percent of my journalism, here and here. Many of my posts feature other posts, articles and speeches from various independent journalists, experts and activists with a good track record of truth telling and adversarial writing, thought and speech. This series is primarily centered around the Ukraine war, starting around the time of the big televised blowout between Trump & Zelensky.

It's amazing the level of truth, on Ukraine & much more that Professor Jeffrey Sachs delivered to the heart of Europe and even more amazing he was allowed to deliver it. "The NATO enlargement, as you know, started in 1999 with Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic. Russia was extremely unhappy about it. But these were countries still far from the border. Russia protested, but of course to no avail. Then George Bush Jr came in when 9/11 occurred and President Putin pledged support. And then the US decided on 20 September 2001 that it would launch seven wars in five years. You can listen to General Wesley Clark’s online talk about that. He was NATO Supreme Commander and in 1999 he went to the Pentagon on 20 September 2001 and was handed the paper explaining the seven wars. These, by the way, were Netanyahu’s Wars. The idea was partly to clean up old Soviet allies and partly to take out supporters of Hamas and Hezbollah because Netanyahu’s idea was there will be one state, thank you, only one state. It will be Israel. Israel will control all of the territory and anyone who objects ,we will overthrow .
That’s US policy until this morning. We don’t know whether it will change now. The only wrinkle is that maybe the US will own Gaza instead of Israel owning Gaza, but the idea has been around at least for 25 years. It actually goes back to a document called Clean Break that Netanyahu and his American political team put together in 1996 to end the idea of the two-state solution. You can also find it online. So these are long-term events, these aren’t is it Clinton is it Bush or is it Obama.That’s the boring way to look at American politics as the day-to-day game, but that’s not what American politics is.
As you know, Viktor Yanukovych was elected in 2010 in Ukraine on the platform of neutrality. Russia had no territorial interests or designs in Ukraine at all. I know. I was there during those years. What Russia was negotiating was a 25-year lease to 2042 for a naval base, that’s it. Not for Crimea, not for the Donbas, nothing like that. This idea that Putin is reconstructing the Russian Empire is childish propaganda. Excuse me, if anyone knows the day-to-day and year-to-year history, this is childish stuff which seems to work better than adult stuff.
The United States decided this man must be overthrown. It’s called a regime change operation. There have been about 100 of them carried out by the United States, many in your countries and many all over the world. That’s what the CIA does for a living. Okay, please know it’s a very unusual kind of foreign policy, but in America if you don’t like the other side you don’t negotiate with them, you try to overthrow them, preferably covertly. If it doesn’t work covertly, you do it overtly. You always say it’s not our fault, they’re the aggressor, they’re the other side, they’re Hitler. That comes up every two or three years whether it’s Saddam Hussein, whether it’s Assad, whether it’s Putin, that’s very convenient. That’s the only foreign policy explanation the American people are ever given anywhere. Well, we’re facing Munich 1938, can’t talk to the other side, they’re evil implacable foes. That’s the only model of foreign policy we ever hear from our mass media and the mass media repeats it entirely because it’s completely suborned by the US Government.
I begged the Ukrainians and I had a track record with the Ukrainians. I advised the Ukrainians. I’m not anti-Ukrainian, I’m pro-Ukrainian completely. I said save your lives, save your sovereignty, save your territory, be neutral, don’t listen to the Americans. I repeated to them the famous adage of Henry Kissinger: that to be an enemy of the United States is dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal. Okay, so let me repeat that for Europe: to be an enemy of the United States is dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal. Trump does not want a losing hand, this is why it is more likely than not this war will end because Trump and President Putin will agree to end the war. If Europe does all its great warmongering, it doesn’t matter, the war is ending so get it out of your system.
Please tell your colleagues it’s over and it’s over because Trump doesn’t want to carry a loser. That’s it, it’s not some great morality.

Second is Europe.Your stock markets are rising in recent days by the horrible news of negotiations. I know this has been met with sheer horror in these chambers, but this is the best news that you could get now. I encouraged them.They don’t listen to me, but I tried to reach out to some of the European leaders. Most don’t want to hear anything from me at all. But I said don’t go to Kiev, go to Moscow. Discuss with your counterparts. Are you kidding, you’re Europe, you’re 450 million people, you’re a 20 trillion economy. You should be the main economic trading partner of Russia. Its natural links by the way.

On the Middle East, by the way, the US completely handed over foreign policy to Netanyahu 30 years ago. The Israel lobby dominates American politics. Just have no doubt about it. I could explain for hours how it works. It’s very dangerous.
I’m hoping that Trump will not destroy his administration and worse the Palestinian people because of Netanyahu whom I regard as a war criminal properly indicted by the ICC. That needs to be told. No more that there will be a state of Palestine on the borders of the 4th of June 1967 according to international law as the only way for peace. It’s the only way for Europe to have peace on your borders with the Middle East. It’s the two-state solution. There is only one obstacle to it by the way and that is the veto of the United States in the UN Security Council. So if you want to have some influence tell the United States drop the veto. You are together with 180 countries in the world. The only ones that oppose a Palestinian state are the United States, Israel, Micronesia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea and Paraguay.
So this is a place where Europe could have a big influence. Europe has gone silent about the JCPOA and Iran. Netanyahu’s greatest dream in life is a war between the United States and Iran. He’s not given up and it’s not impossible that that would come also and that’s because the US in this regard does not have an independent foreign policy. It is run by Israel. It’s tragic. It’s amazing by the way and it could end. Trump may say that he wants foreign policy back. Maybe I’m hoping that it’s the case finally.
Let me just say with respect to China, China is not an enemy, China is just a success story. That’s why it is viewed by the United States as an enemy because China is a bigger economy than the United States.
Russia is not going to invade Europe. This is the fundamental point. It may get up to the Dnipro River, it’s not going to invade Europe. But there are real issues. The main issue for Russia was the United States because Russia as a major power and the largest nuclear power in the world was profoundly concerned about US unipolarity from the beginning. Now that this is seemingly possibly ending. Europe has to open negotiations directly with Russia as well because the United States will quickly lose interest and you’re going to be living with Russia for the next thousands of years. Okay, so what do you want? You want to make sure that the Baltic states are secure. The best thing for the Baltic states is to stop their Russophobia. This is the most important thing. Estonia has about 25% Russian citizens or Russian-speaking citizens, ethnic Russians. Don’t provoke the neighbour, that’s all.
This is not hard, it really isn’t hard and again I want to explain my point of view. I have helped these countries the ones I’m talking about, trying to advise. I’m not their enemy, I’m not Putin’s puppet, I’m not Putin’s apologist. I worked in Estonia, they gave me, I think it’s the second highest civilian honour that a president of Estonia can bestow on a non-national because I designed their currency system for them in 1992. So I’m giving them advice, do not stand there, Estonia, and say we want to break up Russia, are you kidding? Don’t, this is not how to survive in this world. You survive with mutual respect, actually you survive in negotiation, you survive in discussion, you don’t outlaw the Russian language. That is not a good idea when 25% of your population has Russian as a first language. It’s not right even if there weren’t a giant on the border. It wouldn’t be the right thing to do, you’d have it as an official language, you’d have a language in lower school, you wouldn’t antagonise the Russian Orthodox church. So basically we need to behave like grown-ups and when I constantly say that they’re acting like children, Sonia always says to me that’s unfair to children because this is worse . We have a six-year-old grand-daughter and a three-year-old grandson and they actually make up with their friends. And we don’t tell them go, just ridicule them tomorrow .We say go, give them a hug and go play. And they do.

Here is a superb analysis on a most Key Subject by one of my favorite independent journalists, Ben Norton. Yes, everyone should want US proxy war with Russia in Ukraine to end, but Trump is not motivated by peace, and neither are the Democrats, obviously. Trump's motivation is to try to divide Russia & China, as China is the Bipartisan US Empire's final boss. Many pieces of evidence indicates Trump will fail to divide Russia & China, and likewise that the US will fail to defeat China. Trump is horrible and has dictatorial tendencies, but he was elected according to the capitalist rigged oligarchy system of USA. Likewise, Putin was elected according to a differently rigged system, but is massively popular because he has helped his people.
Zelensky was once elected by a rigged system too, rigged in part by the consequences of the US backed neo-Nazi coup in 2014, but his term expired & he cancelled elections, so of these 3 figures, Zelensky fits the bill of unelected dictator much more than the former 2, especially when all the banning of opposition media, parties & religions are accounted for. Polls also show a majority of Ukrainians want the war to end, but Zelensky is telling them the war must go on in opposition to their will.
On another point Bernie is full of crap is that he has no room to speak of imperialism when he never criticizes the world's most brutal genocidal empire, USA, in the forceful way it deserves, and which he has strongly participated in protecting & advancing. Also, USA started the war in 2014 with a Neo-Nazi coup to expand NATO into Ukraine, not Russia.

Zelensky also imprisoned political opposition figures like Medvedchuk. Yet, it must be said he is doing this on behalf of the Stepan Bandera-worshipping Neo-Nazi factions that hate Russia & have held massive power since the US partnered with them in the 2014 coup. These factions have also threatened his life if he does not do what they want, consequently making him their puppet, along with Ukraine being a US vassal altogether.
Now, Trump has chosen to discard its vassal as has been done many times before, not because he wants peace, but because he wants to try to divide Russia & China for the Final US Imperial War with China. The people of Ukraine want this war to end. Russia sought peace agreements multiple times. It has overwhelmingly been the US-led NATO that has wanted to keep the war going to "defeat" nuclear Armed Russia. As an antiwar activist organizer for the past two decades, challenging the pro-war propaganda of the many US wars & threats of war was usually straight forward. It was easy to form messages like "Stop Iraq War, No War on Iran, No War on Korea, Stop Coup on Bolivia, etc."
But then the Ukraine War happened, and it became "Putin Propaganda" to call for "No War with Russia." It became upside down world where most people in our local activists community drank the Kool Aid & started mindlessly waving the Ukraine Flag without taking any time to investigate the actual causes of the war that go back to 2014, early 1990s, and beyond. They just swallowed the simplistic Mainstream Propaganda Narrative without question, hook, line & sinker. Of course Corporate Media & Rachel Maddow's Russiaphobia & debunked Russiagate nonsense had primed the pump of hatred & racism against Russians.
Employing Neo-McCarthyism, other local peace leaders accused me of using "Russian talking points." I saw highly informed professors that are very correct on other wars & injustices, such as Gaza Genocide, totally miss the boat, insisting we "support the Ukrainian resistance." Of course, all these people became insane to me because overnight they seemed to catastrophically forget what the acronym M.A.D. means. They far too casually accepted the lunatic notion that we should go to war (by proxy) with the other greatest nuclear power, in order to "defeat Russia." In my mind, they stopped being peace activists in this moment. I saw this inversion highly Orwellian, and their insanity toward risking nuclear war made me feel alienated & less mentally well.
I still kept organizing protests, including against the threat of nuclear war & the US Proxy War with Russia in Ukraine with a smaller group of more independent thinking activists. These are my deepest soul sisters & brothers...thank you to all of you in Fayetteville & worldwide!
Then the Gaza Genocide happened & I organized protests of that as well, and it became far easier to communicate about this US-backed warfare. The propaganda was much easier to confront. And now, we are back to confronting Ukraine propaganda again, and damn is the brainwashing thick af on this. Democrats and former peace activists I know are out there protesting for the Ukraine War to continue.
I can't stand either party or Trump, and I see all the horrors Trump is causing, but on this single issue I am also not sad Democrats are not in power right now to continue pushing for nuclear war with Russia. I am hopeful that maybe Trump will end this threat, and it is kinda heartwarming to see pro-war liberals bawling about the wheels falling off their favorite war. Perhaps some may find redemption and become antiwar again soon since the bipartisan Proxy War with China in Taiwan is coming up & will be led by Trump instead.
Maybe when some wake up to the Massive mainstream media lies about the failed US Proxy War with Russia in Ukraine, they will see the same pattern repeating. Perhaps holding hope for a great liberal awakening is asking too much. Perhaps it's more logical to hope the people of Taiwan wake up and stop being vassals of the US Empire, and refuse to be used as disposable pawns, like Ukraine was, for US war on China.
The greatest hope of all lies in the fact that USA keeps failing in all its neocon & imperialist adventures. If they failed in their proxy war with Russia, we can be sure they will fail with China. China's population and economy are many times greater than Russia’s, and most of the world is intimately connected with the far more peaceful nation of China.
Also, Taiwan is part of China. It is called the Republic of China. USA and the UN recognized for many decades the One China Policy, that Taiwan is part of China. So, if the USA does try to provoke Mainland China to "invade" Taiwan like they provoked Russia to intervene in Ukraine, the propaganda will be far harder for them. They will have to tell everyone, "Oh my god China is invading China"....doesn't have the same simplistic ring to it as "Russia invades Ukraine".
China is the Final Boss for bipartisan US imperialists and when they fail to beat Bowser, it's game over for the US Empire. Perhaps then humanity can breathe a Massive Cosmic Sigh of Relief and we can begin building a world of genuine peace & justice, a world worth living for, a world worth handing to the next generation.

Another symptom of this condition is a pathological insistence we must all be killed en masse in an apocalyptic nuclear war, along with all other plants & animals. This malady is further exacerbated by a fatal historical amnesia on the elementary concept of what Mutually Assured Destruction means. Those infected with this brain virus seem to think we can win a nuclear war against the other greatest nuclear power.
They also think every Ukrainian should die fighting an always unwinnable war, a war which they failed to spend even one hour researching despite grave implications of armageddon. Hundreds of thousands of dead Ukrainians & Russians is not enough. They demand teenage Ukrainian boys & girls need to be drafted to die next!

It is this leaked phone call between top US State Dept officials Nuland & Pyatt discussing the new Ukrainian leader they were hand picking to install among their top 3 favorites, Yatsenyuk, Klitschko & blatant neo-Nazi Oleh Tyannybok.

In terms of the Ukraine war, it is very important that we highlight the anti-Slavic and anti-Russian racism of Hitler. Adolph's Nazis exterminated 27 to 37 million Slavic/Russian people within USSR during WWII, and most of these were civilians, not soldiers. It was a racist genocidal campaign of extermination, with orders given to kill 30% of the population to make room for German settlers. Way more Slavic/Russian people were exterminated in this genocide than Jewish people in the camps, so why is this racist genocidal fact never emphasized in Western Information Systems?
More recently, we have seen anti-Russian racism become extremely relevant again. During & after the well documented 2014 US backed Ukraine coup, the US worked with & empowered anti-Russian racist neo-Nazi groups that worship Stepan Bandera, the top Ukrainian Nazi Collaborator during WWII. Bandera helped Hitler exterminate thousands of Jews and other groups.
The evidence for the power of these racist Ukrainian groups lies in the fact that after the coup, many laws were quickly passed that massively discriminated against the large Russian speaking minority, mostly within East Ukraine. Also, hundreds of streets were renamed & scores of statues & monuments were erected across Ukraine to glorify Stepan Bandera and other Hitler Collaborators.
This all sparked civil war between the Kiev coup regime in the West & Russian speaking people in the East. The Kiev regime also began bombing ethnic Russian East Ukrainian civilians. How does this look to Russians, millions of which lost grandparents to Hitler & Nazis during the racist genocide of WWII? Now, they see powerful anti-Russian racist Neo-Nazi militias, armed & empowered by USA, near their border doing the Nazi salute, and killing thousands of Ethnic Russians in Ukraine.
And that is only half the equation. The other half is USA promised in the early 1990s not to expand NATO forces, including nuclear weapons systems toward Russian borders, but broke that promise in a massive way, especially by seeking to add Ukraine. Very logically, Russia felt very much threatened by the push of NATO & First Strike Nuclear Attack capability with missiles mere minutes from Moscow, and also by resurgent Nazis killing ethnic Russians in Ukraine.
I despise War as much as anyone, but this also means seeking to understand what really caused the wars & how they can be ended. Understanding the Russian perspective is vital to ending this war that was massively predicted from numerous leading Western foreign policy experts. It was also massively avoidable and massively provoked by USA & the neo-Nazis it empowered.

Here are a couple key pieces of information that are obscured by Mainstream Media propaganda & Western historical revisionism on how the Soviets/Russians were the force that sacrificed the most to defeat Hitler & the Nazis by far, with 27 to 37 million killed by Nazi Germany. Western disinformation, especially Hollywood, have twisted the minds of millions of Americans & Europeans into thinking it was USA that did the most to defeat Hitler, an abject lie.
It was Soviets that took Berlin & liberated Auschwitz, not USA. USA didn't enter war with Germany until later than the Soviets, and President Truman once said as Senator, "If we see that Germany is winning we ought to help Russia and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany, and that way let them kill as many as possible.." Also, a significant part of US capitalists supported the Nazis & after the war, Nazis were brought to work for the US Govt, and as top commanders of the anti-Russia NATO alliance.
For decades, we have been brainwashed into racist hatred against Russians, and it needs to stop. If one doesn't like Nazism, one should perhaps even be thankful to Russians, the nation that sacrificed the most to defeat Hitler.
And we wonder why Russians got so upset about the resurgent Nazism on their doorstep in Ukraine brought forth by the US backed coup in 2014, with many militias worshipping Ukrainian Hitler Collaborator Stepan Bandera as a god? The Kiev regime renamed hundreds of streets and erected scores of monuments and statues to Bandera and other Hitler Collaborators after the coup, including under Zelensky....but "oh no Ukraine can't have a Nazi problem because Zelensky is a Jew"...this is childish propaganda that should be laughed out of the room.

Among the most powerful proofs of Ukraine's (and Poland's) relatively popular Nazi problem was clearly demonstrated in video footage from the 2012 BBC documentary Stadiums of Hate. Entire stadiums of thousands of sports fans doing the Nazi salute in unison in many cities, across these two nations. Yea, the Nazis only partially lost WWII. The ideology still runs strong in certain circles. I mean the liberal darlings Canadian leader Trudeau & Zelensky gave a literal WWII Nazi-Ukrainian war criminal, Yaroslav Hunka, a standing ovation in front of Canadian parliament in 2023. Surely, this occurred partly because the the Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland's grandfather was a literal Nazi-Ukrainian propagandist. Remember?

Lemme repeat: the CIA-adoring, Dick Cheney embracing Democrat Party is not an Opposition Party. The Democrats are fully comfortable risking human extinction in a nuclear war & fully comfortable sponsoring Gaza Genocide. They approved all "Orange Hitlers" massive war budgets in his first term, even before they went full neocon. You don't stop Hitler by arming Hitler, btw.
They don't sincerely resist Republicans or Trump...the only thing they strongly resist is the anti-imperialist, socialist Left, which they spend enormous resources expelling from their rigged primaries, or in lawsuits to expel leftist 3rd parties from the ballot.
And this is to say nothing of the disproportionately Democrat-aligned corporate media that expels Leftist candidates or expert voices from being heard at all, especially in debates. This is why most Americans have little clue about the nature of US imperialism; most Americans still believe the childish fairy tales about US wars being for "freedom & democracy."
If we are ever to escape this dead end cycle of death & destruction, this downward spiral to Hell on Earth, we must form united radical opposition to BOTH demonstrably evil imperialist war parties, both owned by the oligarchy. We need to end economic dictatorship & we need economic democracy. Political democracy is cruel sick joke without economic democracy & far more economic equality. If billionaires & millionaires own both parties & all the corporate media as they do, they can manufacture consent & Dictate elections, making political democracy a fraud.
The first step in ending their wicked game is to properly diagnosed their disease. We need imagination. We need agitation. We need Common Sense 2.0. We need a million digital Paul Reveres 2.0, but for a more evolved system. We need a new Declaration of Interdependence. We need a new Constitution. We need a new Global Federation for Peace.
