How was your eclipse season? It’s been a wild couple of weeks and the world has felt extra topsy-turvy lately. I was lucky enough to spend a few days at the Sand Dunes, soaking in nature and two hot springs. That time to disconnect and recharge felt important. I hope you’ve also been able to unplug and reconnect with yourself. self-care feels more necessary than ever these days.

Now we’ve entered the season of harvest. The days are growing darker, and it’s time to gather what we’ve sown, to store what we need before winter’s rest. Energetically, this is also the beginning of turning inward. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Autumn is the start of Yin time.

In TCM, Autumn corresponds with the Metal element, which (much like Air) relates to communication: the mind, ideas, writing, and speaking. The organs connected to this season are the lungs and large intestine, and the emotions are worry, grief, and sorrow. When those emotions pile up, they can affect lung and digestive health, which is part of why so many people get sick as the seasons shift.

This is a great time to notice what inspires you (the breath of the lungs) and what you’re ready to release (like the large intestine). Clearing space in your home, in your body, and in your mind is deeply supportive as we prepare for winter.
