Investing, Writing, Moving: My Triple-Act This Summer!

Welcome back, Hybrids!

Today’s post comes in two parts. I will share some exciting personal updates and make my case for why I feel every real estate investor should take up an online writing habit.

One of my favorite real estate YouTube channels is the Financial F.I.R.E Fighter YouTube channel by Marc Oshiro.

Marc is an agent, a firefighter, and a fellow real estate investor (some might call him a Hybrid Real Estate Professional). He does several interviews per week with real estate investors of all types.

Marc and I first met in late May, where he did a full-length interview on what it means to be a Hybrid Real Estate Professional.

We hit it off and stayed in touch, and I was honored he asked me to come back on the show for two more short interviews.

Here are the high-level topics:

Key takeaways

It’s been a busy few months with some major changes for my family & me, but the takeaways are starting to crystalize:

• All major decisions come with risks & tradeoffs. Don’t fight that. Accept it.

• There isn’t always a “right” choice. Once you’ve thought things through, you have to trust your gut.

• When faced with significant one-time expenses, re-positioning your real estate portfolio is MUCH more complicated than selling stocks or other liquid investments. This is a downside of real estate investing worth acknowledging.

• Writing and sharing my experience throughout the summer helped me think through my decisions and kept me grounded in the moment.

• There’s never a bad time to learn income-producing, high-value skills such as writing and public speaking.
