Hi, it’s Aakanksha 👋
Two full years.
That’s how long I sat on the idea of starting a travel page before I actually did it. Not because I didn’t have the time. Not because I didn’t have the phone or the footage or the words.
Because I genuinely believed I wasn’t interesting enough for anyone to follow. 😭
I’d scroll through travel accounts and think... she’s been to 40 countries, he has this cinematic style, she has this wild personality that just JUMPS through the screen. And then I’d look at myself. A girl from Delhi who took the metro to different neighbourhoods on weekends and thought about travel constantly but hadn’t actually done that much of it yet.
Who was I to start a page? 😭
If you’ve ever felt this, today I want to take that belief apart completely. Because it is factually, provably wrong. And I have the RECEIPTS.
Oh and by the way, I am hosting a FREE LIVE MASTERCLASS in July specifically for people who want to start or grow as a travel creator and guess what? I’ll also be doing LIVE PROFILE REVIEWS!!
If you want in…make sure to SIGN UP for the MASTERCLASS here
The “not interesting enough” feeling is a comparison problem pretending to be self-awareness
Here’s what’s ACTUALLY happening when you feel this way:
You’re comparing your BEHIND THE SCENES to someone else’s HIGHLIGHT REEL. 👀
You’re looking at a creator with 40 countries and assuming THAT is why people follow her. But people don’t follow her because of the country count. They follow her because of how she TALKS about the places she goes. The specific observations. The honest takes. The little details that make you feel like you’re actually there.
The destination is the backdrop. The PERSON is the reason.
I know this because I’ve watched creators with 3 countries and 50K followers consistently outperform creators with 50 countries and 5K followers. The interesting thing was never the passport stamps. It was ALWAYS the perspective.
What actually makes someone worth following
People don’t follow accounts. They follow people who make them feel something 💛
Not people who have been everywhere. Not people with perfect editing. Not people who look or live a certain way.
People who make them feel:
“She gets it. She thinks exactly the way I think.”
“I learned something I didn’t know before.”
None of those require 40 countries. None of them require a professional camera. They require knowing what YOU specifically think, notice, and care about and being willing to say it 😌
3 things I actually did to find what made my perspective worth following
1. I stopped asking “what is interesting about my travels” and started asking “what do I notice that other people walk past?” 👀
When I was in Goa, everyone was posting about the beaches and the nightlife. I kept noticing the food, specifically how expensive the tourist spots were and how INCREDIBLE the local food trucks were for ₹50. That became content. Not because it was exotic. Because it was a real, specific, useful observation that thousands of people planning a Goa trip didn’t have.
Ankita my student from Creator Takeoff Academy (CTA), was on a train and noticed a small kids’ play area in one of the carriages. Most people would have walked past it without a second thought. She stopped, filmed it, and asked one question: “Should Indian trains add small play zones like this?”
And the REEL got 1.2M views. 13,200 shares. 13,500 likes 😭

What do YOU notice when you travel that others walk straight past? That answer is the beginning of your content identity 😌
2. I paid attention to what people specifically asked ME 🧠
When I came back from trips, certain people always called ME specifically. Not anyone else. For specific things. Budget breakdown. How did you find that spot. Is it actually safe to do that alone as a woman. Tell me every local food recommendation.
Those questions were a MAP. They were telling me exactly what my perspective was worth and what I knew that felt rare enough for people to seek out from me specifically.
What do your friends and family ask YOU about when it comes to travel? Write it down. That list is more valuable than any content strategy document 👀
3. I posted the thing I thought was “too obvious” to be interesting 😭
My most-watched early content wasn’t the things I thought were impressive. It was the things I almost didn’t post because I thought “everyone already knows this.”
The packing hack I’d been using for years that felt boring to me. The metro tip in Delhi. The thing about booking flights I’d figured out and assumed was common knowledge.
It was NOT common knowledge. It was only common knowledge to ME because I’d been obsessing over this stuff for years 😅
Vartika another creator from CTA posted a reel, “Holi in India feels unsafe for me” 😭
Then she shared the surprise: Holi in Nepal felt SAFE and actually fun for women 💛
See how “small” that sounds? But for someone planning a trip, that’s a BIG fear + BIG relief.
That one reel hit HARD: 1.4M views, 18.3K shares, 2K+ reposts 👀
Tanya, my student from Creator Takeoff Academy (CTA) did the same thing. She posted a simple hack: business-class tickets under ₹5K 😳✈️
To her it’s like, “yaar this is normal, I just figured it out” but to the audience it’s INSANE value.
People went CRAZ… 6K+ comments, 4K shares, 117K views.
Moral: what feels “OBVIOUS” to you is often EXACTLY what your audience needs 🙌
The part I can’t give you in a newsletter
Here’s where I’m going to be honest with you.
These three things will get you thinking. But they’re still open-ended and open questions can spiral into more paralysis 😬
But what do I post exactly?
I don’t know how to write a good script.
How do I turn this into something structured enough to build a page around?
These are the questions I hear from EVERY single person who comes to me just starting out. And the answer isn’t something I can type in three bullet points. It’s something I walk through live, with examples, and with real creators working through it in real time.
I’ve built a specific exercise for exactly this, a framework that takes everything you just thought about above and turns it into a clear, specific creator identity in about 10 minutes. Every Creator Takeoff Academy student has done it. The feedback is ALWAYS the same: “I’ve been going in circles for months and it clicked in 10 minutes.” 🥹
So I’m hosting a FREE live masterclass on July 18th AND 19th (two different time slots so everyone can make it!) specifically for people who want to start or grow as a travel creator.
Where to begin, what to create first, how to do it alongside a full-time job, and how to start earning even before you have big numbers. ALL of it, live, for free 👇🏽
No replay. Live only. Pick your slot when you register!
One Cool Thing I Did This Week 💕
Just flew into my NEW home base…BANGKOK 🇹🇭✨
I’m SO excited to settle in, explore this city, and see what the next chapter has in store for me 😭🥹💛 EEEPS!!
Tell me, what’s the one thing that’s been stopping you from starting? Or if you’ve already started, what was the belief you had to overcome first?
Hit reply. I read all of them 👇🏽
That’s it for this week’s Unpacked…see you next Wednesday with something new to unpack 👋🏽
Lots of love & sunshine,
Aakanksha
