Travis Kalanick has spent the past eight years building Atoms in near-total stealth, cultivating a “culture of people that want to build and do not need to be famous.”
That discipline is the foundation of what Atoms is today: a physical automation company building the AI, hardware, and robotics needed to automate the parts of civilization that software can’t reach, such as food production, mining, and transportation.
Today, Travis is announcing a $1.7B raise for Atoms led by a16z - and he’s hiring 200+ roles.
He’s looking for builders who want to tackle hard problems, work across disciplines, and help create systems that move the world forward. That means deploying products in the field instead of shipping into a vacuum, and working alongside hardcore builders who’ve already scaled category-defining companies and teams.
