Share Three Good Things to Know
I’m always on the look out for good local posters, and I love these from Pazz Collection. I’m especially enamoured with the Summit Collection and am going to buy the Tremblant poster for our ski chalet!
I just came back from a month long backpack trip with my family in Europe. We did carry on only in reasonably sized backpacks (kids were around 30L mine was 36L). We had to pack for everything from cold and rain, hot and humid, to a 4 night/5 day hut to hut hike. I did a LOT of research before we went so I’d actually be able to pack what we needed and keep it light.
I’m going to share little by little what I did to keep my load light as I am very passionate about it and feel like I’ll get carried away so I’ll trickle it through.
I first travelled around two weeks with my two sons only. To keep things as simple and easy as possible, I packed small bags by purpose and then split the load up so I wasn’t stuck carrying everything. I mostly used these bags here and here. This was my toiletry bag.
One bag was labelled ‘teeth’ (I just used a marker) and had our toothbrushes, flossers, toothpaste, etc. Another was ‘first aid’ with After Bite, blister bandaids, etc. There was another one for ‘shower’. That way they could easily be pulled out and ready to be used.
I wanted to keep things as simple as possible. One of the reasons I didn’t take a lot was also because it meant packing and unpacking more things which could just lead to frustration. Yes, it meant an annoying amount of laundry but it was worth it (more on that later!).

Throughout Europe the pattern of cream with black polka dots showed up everywhere (specifically Copenhagen with the locals and Venice where it was clear tourists really took their time to pack their best outfits). Copenhagen had a LOT of cream and dot skirts, while in Venice it was all over including tops and shorts. Lace trimmed everything and shirred tops were also very popular. It was a lot of fun seeing what everyone was wearing - particularly in Copenhagen where the silhouette was extremely oversized everything - while still feeling very chic!
