Dropping Support for macOS 10.13

As we have aggressively started working on Yate v10.0 we ve come to the conclusion that we have to drop support for macOS 10.13. Largely this is due to all the reasons that that next release will drop support for 10.10 through 10.12. We have to move to new SDKs and there are so many deprecations [ ]

Dropping Support for macOS 10.10 – 10.12

It is with great regret that we re announcing the dropping of support for macOS 10.10 10.12. Yate v9.2.x will be the last release for the old mac version. The last time any of these OS versions received security updates was 2017. It is becoming increasingly difficult to get around the seemingly innumerable build issues; [ ]

Almost the End of the Year Ramblings

It s Giving Tuesday in Canada again and once again the 2ManyRobots bank account has been drained. (Actually more than drained as the gross is used to determine the donation amount). I still personally hate Tahoe. While Apple has made some moves on the UI, I still find that the almost complete lack of contrast is [ ]

Audio FIle Health Check v1.8 Released

AFHC v1.8 was released today. Misplaced STREAMINFO blocks in FLAC files are no longer considered a fatal error as Yate v7.0.0.2 can repair them. The Repair Files from Audio File Health Check Log action was also updated. If you do not have auto action updates enabled, do a Yate>Check for Action Updates.

Another Year of Donations

It s Giving Tuesday in Canada which is the best day of the year to do charitable donations. It s the day when many corporations double, triple or even 5x donations. Once again we ve donated 100% of the gross of payments for Yate. Thanks to all of our users who continue to make this possible.

Yate v7.0

Yate v7.0 has been released. We hope that you enjoy the changes and new features. Unfortunately, the production of v7.0 was not without major issues. Xcode v16.0 which runs on Sonoma breaks all applications which use the QuickLook preview system when the application is loaded on a prior OS. The application crashes immediately as an [ ]

Yate and other Taggers

Time for a strange one. Time for a little reflection on Yate. A few users have brought to my attention a tagger feature table that was published by JThink, the makers of Jaikoz and SongKong. Honestly, I have no major issues with it. I m not saying I agree with all of it but it really [ ]

Website back up

On 2024-01-05 the website was down for about 3 hours. Thanks to everyone who emailed us about the event.

It’s Giving Tuesday

In many parts of the world it s Giving Tuesday today. It s a great day to donate to your favourite local charities. Many have donations doubled or tripled today due to the generosity of others. As is our tradition, all Yate revenue for the past year will be donated to about a dozen local charities. The [ ]

Yate v6.17 Released

Yate v6.17 has been released. It fixes a number of weird things happening in Sonoma. The oddities do not even seem to be consistent. We found one display bug which only seems to happen on Mac Studios with a Studio display. Other than Sonoma patches, there s a lot of new features and changes to the [ ]
