Jim Lee Drops In, and More SDCC News!

Hey 247 Comics Fam,

We had an amazing time at our first ever booth at San Diego Comic-Con, partnered with TOKYOPOP.

It was so exciting to meet and talk to so many fans, and to introduce new ones to 247 Comics. Welcome, new readers!

The 247 COMICS CARD CHASE was a blast. Hundreds of people participated, collecting the Six exclusive 247 Comics trading cards from our partner booths throughout the floor of the Exhibit Hall. Each card features creators from the current 247 Comics slate: Daniel Warren Johnson, Sean Chen, GODTAIL, Anderson Carman, MANIX and Mario Foccillo.

THANK YOU so much to our participating partner booths: PSA, ComicLink/CertifiedLink, Wicked Town Studios, Big Clutch Comics/Rupp’s Comics, ShortBoxed, and Joe Benitez Productions.

Fans who collected all six cards during SDCC were able to nab an advance copy of FIRST-LOOK: Fall Edition #1 at the 247 Comics Powered by TOKYOPOP Booth.

In addition participants had the opportunity to enter a drawing for our Grand Prize Giveaway.

We will randomly select the winner of the Grand Prize Giveaway on our YouTube account later this week.

Mickey Finnegan (The Ungraded Truth Podcast, SWAGGLEHAUS) hosted our main panel TOKYOPOP: 247 Comics: The Ultimate Manga-Comics Mashup! He was joined by Kae Winters (community manager, TOKYOPOP), Terry Kavanagh (executive editor, 247 Comics), and myself, to discuss our new partnership with TOKYOPOP and the rising tide of manga fandom in western comics readers.

My other panel was Why Comics Matter Now More than Ever, where I chatted about the lasting relevance of comics with Brian Buccellato (Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong), Heath Corson (Witness Point), Melissa Flores (The Dead Lucky), and Pornsak Pichetshote (The Good Asian). The panel was moderated by Mickey Finnegan.
