Because I always have an eye on GameDay, I knew the Cleveland Guardians had been bounced from the 2025 Postseason before either the television or radio broadcasts told me so. That gave me enough time to turn off the tv, close my eyes, and listen to Hall of Fame broadcaster Tom Hamilton utter the final game moments of the campaign. Instinctively, I got up, wandered to my closet, and pulled out a hoodie to go out for an early evening walk. I didn’t even realize until I was halfway down the block, after Hammy’s voice, gravely with emotion, said his final so long, everybody of the year, that I the sweatshirt I’d selected was one I’d picked up at Spring Training before the 2024 season.
Maybe there are no coincidences in this life.
