Hello, everyone!
I didn’t plan to post anything today, but here I am. I apologise in advance for spamming your inbox.
I went to watch Nolan’s The Odyssey today. Since there’s no IMAX70 theatre here in Dublin, I watched it on 70mm projection. So I think I watched about half of the whole movie.
Much has already been said about the movie, too much in fact. The fury from the American right over the casting of the movie was the main reason that I decided to watch it. And I am glad I did. I enjoyed the movie with some of the usual reservations about Mr. Nolan’s film making styles. Parts of the movie are really loud. This is not a complaint, just a small thing.
I’ve come to appreciate Mr. Nolan for what he does for the film industry. He’s accumulated enough capital and goodwill from Hollywood that he could take on a colossal project such as the Odyssey and make it in his own way. Kodak cut out a new film format just for him. There aren’t many film makers who could do this, and many who could, won’t. Pissing off the right wing nut jobs is the icing on the cake, isn’t it? I like movie theatres, and I appreciate any movie that could give me the reason to see it in a theatre. If you, like I, don’t have access to an IMAX70 theatre, go see it on regular IMAX or, 70mm or even 35mm projection will do.
Funny story, after I watched the film, my wife and I drove back from city centre to pick up the little one. And this routine drive of 20km turned into an odyssey in its own right due to a traffic accident on the highway. It took us 2 hours to get the little one home. You know a city’s traffic is bad when a single accident on a highway can turn a large chunk of the city into a gridlock. Another Homer, Dublin!
Anyhoooooooo….
I am gonna post some random photos that have not made the cut into my real posts. I know. Even the real posts aren’t quite real. Here they are.
Pool boy?
When people ask me to take their photos, I always say no. But this time, a few friends and I are leaving this pool place, and this guy sees my camera and asks for a photo. I had my new lens on, and had just played some decent pool, so I said yes. It’s not terrible, or is it?
Hustle.

This was taken at the little one’s kindergarten graduation.
You know, childhood.
A little tower in Paris.
That’s it for today. Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Until next time!
